*(1st Shift Wed-Sat 6:00AM-6:00PM)*
Position Summary:
The Fleet Parts Clerk supports the Company's fleet maintenance operations by ordering, receiving, stocking, and issuing the parts, tools, and supplies needed to keep vehicles and equipment in service. The role maintains accurate parts inventory, processes purchase orders with approved vendors, and works closely with technicians to ensure parts are available when needed. The position exists to minimize vehicle downtime, control parts costs, and keep the fleet operating safely and efficiently.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Order, receive, inspect, and stock fleet parts, tools, and supplies, verifying items against packing slips and purchase orders.
- Maintain accurate parts inventory in the inventory/fleet maintenance system, including cycle counts, reorder points, and stock adjustments.
- Issue parts to technicians and track usage against work orders and individual vehicles or equipment.
- Source parts and obtain pricing from approved vendors, prepare and process purchase orders, and follow up on backorders, cores, and returns.
- Organize and maintain a clean, safe, and clearly labeled parts room, including shelving, bins, and storage areas.
- Reconcile invoices and delivery receipts and assist with monthly inventory counts and reporting.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to anticipate parts needs and prevent stockouts that delay repairs.
- Handle warranty parts and dispose of used or hazardous materials in accordance with company policy and applicable California regulations.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- One (1) or more years of experience in parts, inventory, warehouse, or automotive/fleet support.
- Working knowledge of automotive, truck, or heavy-equipment parts and terminology.
- Proficiency with inventory management software and basic computer applications (email, spreadsheets, data entry).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical demands described below.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience with fleet maintenance management systems (e.g., RTA, Fleetio, Dossier) or electronic parts catalogs.
- Prior experience supporting a commercial vehicle, transit, or heavy-duty truck fleet.
- Forklift certification, or the ability to obtain one.
- ASE Parts Specialist (P2) certification or comparable credential.
- Familiarity with vendor management, procurement, and warranty-claim processes.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills.
