Job Description

The Communications Coordinator and Copywriter owns the implementation of Clonlara’s communication strategy across all channels. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Outreach, the Communications Coordinator and Copywriter supports the school’s voice and brand visibility, in alignment with the organization’s mission and goals. This role combines strong writing skills and marketing awareness to create clear and engaging communications for prospective families, enrolled families, donors, alumni, and the broader school community.

The ideal candidate is a thoughtful storyteller and detail-oriented communicator who can write for different audiences and channels, including websites, email, social media, digital ads, newsletters, alumni outreach, and community updates.

This role helps the school communicate who it is, what it offers, and how it supports students and families. Through thoughtful marketing copy and meaningful community communications, the Communications Coordinator and Copywriter strengthens enrollment, family engagement, alumni connection, and the school’s overall visibility.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Marketing and Copywriting
- Execute communications strategy to ensure the school’s value proposition, service offer, philosophy and mission are effectively communicated across all channels.
- Write compelling copy for the school website, landing pages, digital ads, brochures, flyers, promotional campaigns, and social media.
- Develop messaging that clearly communicates the value of Clonlara’s educational approach.
- Adapt tone and content for different audiences, including prospective families, current families, students, educators, donors, alumni, and the extended community.
- Support enrollment and admissions campaigns with clear, warm, and persuasive messaging.
- Collaborate with admissions and program teams to ensure marketing materials are accurate, engaging, and aligned with the school’s brand values.

School Community Communications
- Manage a communications calendar for family updates, newsletters, events, and seasonal priorities.
- Coordinate regular communications to enrolled families, including newsletters, announcements, updates, reminders, and event information, in collaboration with program coordinators.
- Help ensure families across different programs receive relevant, accessible, and aligned information.
- Lead on school-wide messaging, ensuring offer, services (including advising, coaching, events, online courses, clubs, other à la carte options, etc.) and content useful to enrolled families are communicated effectively and consistent with the school’s brand and image.
- Ensure sensitive, urgent, or important information is communicated effectively and appropriately (e.g., crisis communications like COVID updates) in a timely manner.
- In collaboration with other departments and teams, support communications related to events, community celebrations, enrollment cycles, conferences, fundraising campaigns, graduation, and new services.
- Maintain organized files, drafts, approvals, and final versions of communication materials.
- Support the development and use of communication templates, style guidelines, and messaging resources to ensure communications reflect the school’s values.
- Edit and proofread communications and school materials for clarity, grammar, tone, accuracy, and accessibility.
- Provide content and copy for media and press releases, representing the school to public audiences.

Social Media and Digital Content
- Create and manage an annual editorial plan for the school’s blog and Linkedin with the goal of positioning Clonlara as an authority in personalized learning.
- Write blog/Linkedin articles and collaborate with internal and external contributing writers to help maintain the school’s brand voice, messaging standards, and editorial consistency.
- Collaborate with the pedagogical team, Executive Director and program directors, in the creation of content for conferences, presentations or letters for institutional communications, and articles about trends in education/pedagogy.
- In collaboration with Marketing team, write and schedule social media posts that highlight student stories, school events, share Clonlara’s philosophy and approach to education, alumni spotlights, community initiatives, and mission-driven content.
- Maintain a consistent brand voice across platforms while adapting content for each channel.
- Align copy for website, blogs or landing pages to SEO briefs.
- Track engagement and suggest content ideas based on audience response, enrollment goals, and school priorities.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, English, education, or a related field.
- Professional experience in communications, marketing, copywriting, content creation, or a similar role.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Ability to write for multiple audiences and communication channels.
- Ability to translate complex information into clear, warm, and accessible communication.
- Understanding marketing strategy, audience engagement, brand messaging, and digital content and SEO.
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Collaborative approach and comfortable working with other departments.

Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with email marketing platforms, website content management systems, and basic analytics.
- Experience writing for schools, nonprofit organizations, mission-driven organizations, or family-facing audiences.
