General Job Description
Provides leadership, direct and indirect supervision of maintenance crews while performing daily work activities of maintaining contracted assets (roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, vegetation, etc.) per standards and conditions specified in the contract and as directed by the supervisor. Work to be perform on Polk Parkway, Veterans expressway and Suncoast Parkway as detailed in the scope of this contract.

• This position requires being available outside of normal business hours as needed, and participating in an on-call rotation on nights, weekends and holidays as may be needed.
• Coordinates the work of crews to perform maintenance activities based upon local work-plan through consultation with Zone Superintendent.
• Trains or directs the training of new and existing crew members including compliance with company safety rules and safe practices.
• Assists in making recommendations by monitoring
employee performance for coaching, rewards and disciplining employees as needed.
• Assists in addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Takes care to use and maintain equipment and tools (including vehicles) properly to extend their usefulness. Coordinates and insures availability of equipment, tools and materials to be used at specified times to conform to work schedules.
• Directs and coordinates local emergency response and responds as needed to road closures or incidents.
• Inspects and troubleshoots work-in-progress to ensure that timing and workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to the contract and local standards.
• Maintains clean appearance of highways and medians through litter and debris removal and disposal (may use litter claw or another device).
• Repairs/maintains functionality of slopes, berms, culverts, drains, etc. through use of shovels and other hand or power tools and equipment.
• Keep roadways free of debris including ice and snow by using snow removal and/or sanding equipment
• Transports crew and equipment to work sites operating vehicle pickup trucks and specialized motor vehicles.
• Required to be available for emergency response rotations as need for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Education: HS or GED (Preferred)
Work Experience: 1 year experience in construction, road maintenance, landscaping (outdoor work) prior supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership ability (preferred).
Certifications and Licenses:
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (Required)
- M.O.T. certifications (High Desirable)
