About This Position
The Maintenance Crew Supervisor (Facilities Maintenance) works with management and Maintenance Mechanics to coordinate and supervise regular maintenance and projects using unskilled labor personnel. The incumbent in this supervisory role performs work both independently and with assigned staff in equipment repairs, preventive maintenance, cleaning, painting, custodial, landscaping, and other related duties supervises a maintenance crew.
General Description
Requires two (2) years in general maintenance or closely related experience including one (1) year of lead work experience.
Ability to work shift work in a 24/7 operation as assigned (days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays).
Ability to report to multiple work locations as needed.
Special Certifications and Licenses
Possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver's License.
Preferences
- Vocational Training (Small Engine Maintenance and/or Repair /Accredited Course/Apprenticeship in Building Maintenance)
- Associates, Bachelor's or Master's Degree in relevant field
- EPA 608 Certification (40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F)
- EPA 609 Certification (MVAC)
- Forklift Certification
- Broward County Transportation Leadership Program Graduate (TLP)
- 2+ More years automotive maintenance and repair experience
- 2+ years experience Fuel Systems related Certifications (underground storage tank and dispensing equipment)
- 6 Months or more Maintenance Management software or Time and Attendance software experience
- 6 Months or more PeopleSoft HR or PeopleSoft Financials experience
- 6 Months months or more experience in a union environment
- 6 Months or more Fleet Watch software or comparable experience
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
Schedules and assigns work for maintenance staff and follows up throughout day to ensure each assignment is complete; meets and follows up with other County employees that may be working on projects or work orders; coordinates daily assignments and oversees all job functions to ensure safe working standards at the assigned facility.
Composes and responds to emails, files work orders electronically, monitors and tracks employee records, attendance, sick leave, annual leave; enters all daily log sheets and work order time sheets; prepares and maintains monthly reports; prepares and administers performance evaluations for subordinates.
Operates equipment, to include pressure washers, mowers, tractors, spray rig, spreaders, weed-eaters, and edgers; monitors field conditions and applies fertilizer and chemicals when needed; depending on area of assignment, may oversee and assist with all tree trimming, fertilizing athletic fields, repair of equipment, ensures cleaning of shelters and restrooms, office, playgrounds and/or horse trails.
Performs daily inspection of the grounds and buildings, common areas, depending on assignment may include fences, picnic tables, picnic pavilions, playgrounds, parking lots, walkways; uses information for the scheduling of daily staff assignments.
Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment; performs repairs as needed or sends out equipment to the repair shop, performs routine scheduled maintenance when needed, orders repair parts, maintains inventory of frequently needed parts.
Assigns work order numbers and retains records to monitor status of work done by staff and agency, inputs staff work hours daily, approves and update records daily.
Performs related work as assigned.
