Lab Assistant, Pathology in Springfield, Massachusetts at New England Dermatology PC

New England Dermatology & Laser Center has been providing dermatology care to the greater Springfield community for over 70 years. We are growing and looking for an experienced Lab Assistant, Pathology with a conscientious work ethic to join our busy specialty practice laboratory.

The lab assistant for pathology is responsible for performing laboratory support duties including: accessioning incoming specimens, maintaining laboratory and patient records, filing, scanning and assisting laboratory staff and pathologists as needed.

Schedule

• Tu-Th 8a-5p (1 hour non-paid lunch daily, 24 hours per week)
• Day shift
• No weekends
• Overtime and scheduling flexibility may be required to accommodate operational needs.

Work setting

• In-person
• The regular work location is our laboratory in Springfield
• This position reports to the surgical center manager

High school diploma or GED plus additional specialized training in laboratory processes required. CPR Certification preferred.

1-3 years prior work experience in a pathology laboratory, dermatology, customer service or medical office experience preferred.

Professional, courteous, flexible, team player who works well independently and as part of a team. Accuracy, attention to detail, efficiency, initiative, conscientious work ethics, good judgment & follow-through. Constant monitoring of workflow. Ability to prioritize, multi-task and troubleshoot. Proficiency with practice management, laboratory, EHR and Microsoft Office software programs. Knowledge of instrument cleaning/sterilization and care.
