National Account Executive

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a National Account Executive in the United States.

This role sits at the center of market access strategy for innovative gene therapies, ensuring patients gain timely and sustained access to life-changing treatments. The position focuses on building and managing high-impact relationships with commercial and government payers as well as treatment centers across a defined U.S. region. It blends strategic account management, payer contracting, and field execution in a highly specialized biotech environment. The role directly influences reimbursement pathways, coverage decisions, and patient access outcomes across complex healthcare systems. Working cross-functionally with medical, patient support, and treatment center teams, you will help remove barriers across the patient journey. This is a field-based, high-visibility position requiring deep expertise in specialty or cell and gene therapy markets. You will operate in a fast-paced, mission-driven setting where compliance, collaboration, and patient impact are central.

Accountabilities

This role is responsible for driving payer engagement strategies and ensuring consistent, efficient access to approved gene therapies across assigned territories. It requires close coordination with treatment centers and internal stakeholders to remove barriers, optimize reimbursement pathways, and improve patient access outcomes.

  • Engage commercial, Medicaid, Medicare, and other government payers to influence coverage decisions, medical policy, and access criteria
  • Develop, negotiate, and execute value-based agreements and contracting strategies to support therapy reimbursement
  • Partner with Qualified Treatment Centers (QTCs) to identify access barriers and streamline prior authorization, coding, and reimbursement processes
  • Serve as the primary regional access liaison for QTCs, supporting education on payer requirements and optimizing access workflows
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with medical, patient support, marketing, legal, and field teams to ensure aligned access strategies
  • Identify and resolve payer or operational delays impacting patient access and reimbursement timelines
  • Share market insights, payer intelligence, and field feedback to improve access strategy and execution
Requirements

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in biotech or pharmaceutical market access, particularly within specialty, rare disease, or cell and gene therapy environments. This role requires strong payer-facing expertise, relationship-building skills, and the ability to operate in complex, matrixed healthcare systems.

  • 10+ years of experience in biotech, pharma, or market access roles, preferably in specialty or advanced therapies
  • Strong understanding of U.S. payer landscape including commercial payers, PBMs, Medicaid, Medicare, TRICARE, and reimbursement models
  • Proven success engaging integrated delivery networks, hospitals, and treatment centers on access and reimbursement strategy
  • Experience negotiating payer contracts, including value-based or outcomes-based agreements
  • Strong business development, account management, and stakeholder engagement capabilities
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% and operate effectively in a field-based role
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in healthcare, business, or related field preferred
Benefits
  • Competitive base salary with performance-based annual bonus and long-term incentives
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement savings plan with employer match (401k)
  • Paid time off, holidays, and scheduled company shutdown periods
  • Paid parental leave and family support programs
  • Tuition reimbursement and loan repayment assistance
  • Flexible spending and lifestyle benefits support
  • Commuter and travel-related subsidies depending on location
