The Strategic Engagement Lead serves as the primary coordinator for strategic engagement planning activities supporting the federal client. This position is responsible for managing leadership engagement workflows, coordinating speaking and meeting requests, developing executive briefing materials, and leading the planning and execution of high-profile public engagements. Working closely with Executive Secretariat (ExecSec), senior leadership, program offices, and external stakeholders, the Strategic Engagement Lead ensures engagements are strategically aligned with the federal client's priorities and executed with exceptional attention to detail, quality, and timeliness. This is a contingent position. Hiring for this role is dependent upon LMD Agency being awarded the associated government contract and receiving authorization to proceed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the lead coordinator for strategic engagement planning activities supporting the federal client's senior leadership and the Office of External Affairs.
  • Monitor shared email inboxes and SharePoint-based task management systems for Executive Affairs (EA) taskings, meeting requests, speaking invitations, and other engagement requests.
  • Log, track, research, prioritize, deconflict, assign, and coordinate engagement requests to ensure timely responses and completion.
  • Research prospective conferences, meetings, industry events, and stakeholder engagements to assess strategic value and alignment with the federal client's priorities.
  • Develop executive briefing materials, including:
    • Briefing memoranda
    • Read-ahead packages
    • Background materials
    • Event summaries
    • Talking points
    • Biographical information
    • Audience analyses
  • Prepare comprehensive briefing books and preparatory materials for the federal client's leadership supporting strategic engagements.
  • Lead planning initiatives for major conferences, keynote addresses, industry forums, interagency events, and other high-visibility speaking engagements.
  • Coordinate with Executive Secretariat (ExecSec), program offices, communications teams, legal counsel, policy offices, and other stakeholders to ensure all engagement materials receive appropriate reviews and approvals.
  • Facilitate cross-agency collaboration to integrate the Director’s vision, strategic messaging, and organizational priorities into engagement planning and execution.
  • Manage the preparation, review, and submission of Speaking Request Forms and supporting documentation.
  • Support the management and continuous improvement of speakers bureau operations, including scheduling, documentation, tracking, and reporting.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of briefing materials, correspondence, presentations, and other executive products to ensure consistency, accuracy, formatting, grammar, and adherence to agency standards.
  • Coordinate task management workflows to ensure engagement materials are properly routed, reviewed, archived, and maintained in accordance with records management requirements.
  • Maintain calendars, tracking systems, engagement databases, and reporting tools supporting leadership engagement activities.
  • Develop reports and metrics on engagement activities, speaking requests, response times, and workflow performance.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, coordination, and quality across strategic engagement planning operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently holds, or is able to obtain, a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Fitness Determination.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Event Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated professional experience supporting conference planning, executive events, strategic engagements, or public affairs activities.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating executive-level meetings, conferences, public speaking engagements, or stakeholder events.
  • Experience preparing executive briefing materials, read-ahead packages, talking points, and background memoranda.
  • Experience coordinating complex task management workflows involving multiple stakeholders and approval authorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional proofreading and editing abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and rapidly changing priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and task management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior executives, government officials, and cross-functional teams.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), or another federal agency in executive communications, public affairs, or leadership engagement planning.
  • Experience supporting Executive Secretariat (ExecSec) operations or executive correspondence management.
  • Knowledge of federal records management requirements and document control processes.
  • Familiarity with speakers bureau operations, executive scheduling, and conference management.
  • Experience supporting senior government officials in high-profile public engagements and media-facing events.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity, homeland security, emergency management, or critical infrastructure protection missions.
  • Experience developing executive dashboards, engagement metrics, and workflow performance reports.
  • Professional certification in meeting or event planning (e.g., CMP, DES, or equivalent) is preferred.

  • This position is onsite at the client's office located in Arlington, VA.

This position is part of a proposal effort and is contingent upon LMD Agency being awarded the associated contract and receiving funding and/or government authorization to begin work. 82,000 - 118,000 USD per year(Arlington)
