Position Title: Automotive Used Car Sales Manager
Department: Sales
Reports To: General Sales Manager / General Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary

The Automotive used Car Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the sales department, including new and pre-owned vehicle sales. This position ensures profitability through effective management of sales staff, inventory control, and customer satisfaction. The Sales Manager leads, trains, and motivates the sales team to achieve dealership goals while performing all duties consistent with ADA essential functions and Ted Britt Automotive Group standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Oversee daily sales operations, including managing the sales team and monitoring performance metrics.

· Set and achieve monthly and annual sales goals for new and pre-owned vehicles.

· Develop, implement, and maintain effective sales processes and customer engagement strategies.

· Work directly with the General Sales Manager to plan and forecast dealership sales goals and profitability.

· Assist sales consultants with closing deals and structuring transactions for maximum profitability and customer satisfaction.

· Ensure all sales transactions comply with dealership policies, manufacturer standards, and state/federal regulations.

· Manage vehicle inventory and work with manufacturers to maintain optimal stock levels.

· Train, mentor, and motivate sales staff to achieve performance objectives and deliver exceptional customer service.

· Monitor market trends and competitor activity to develop effective sales strategies.

· Handle escalated customer concerns promptly and professionally to maintain positive dealership reputation.

· Collaborate with F&I, service, and marketing departments to support overall dealership success.

· Prepare and analyze reports related to sales performance, gross profit, and team productivity.

· Perform all duties in accordance with ADA essential functions and company safety standards.

· High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.

· Minimum 3–5 years of automotive sales experience with at least 2 years in a management role.

· Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals in a dealership environment.

· Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.

· Proficiency in dealership management systems.

· Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

· Ability to motivate and lead a team toward success in a fast-paced environment.

· Strong understanding of inventory management and financial performance metrics.

· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

· Professional appearance and demeanor.

· Must hold a valid Sales License with the Virginia Dealer Board or obtain one before start date.

ADA Essential Duties

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while supervising the sales floor.

· Ability to sit, drive, and conduct meetings both in person and virtually.

· Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members and customers.

· Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
