LOCATION

Position Mandate

The Director of Supply Chain provides strategic leadership, coordination, and functional support for supply chain activities across the R.W. Beckett family of companies, strengthening enterprise-wide capabilities in procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier management, materials planning, inventory management, logistics, and supply chain performance. Operating within a decentralized manufacturing environment, the Director partners with business-unit and operational leadership to leverage the collective scale, resources, systems, and purchasing power of the organization while preserving the responsiveness and specialized capabilities of individual businesses, and builds a scalable supply chain capability capable of supporting continued growth and acquisitions.

Primary Accountabilities1. Enterprise Supply Chain Leadership

• Provide leadership, direction, and functional support for supply chain activities across the R.W. Beckett family of companies, developing an enterprise strategy that balances corporate leverage and standardization with the needs of individual businesses and manufacturing locations.

• Partner with general managers, operations leaders, Finance, Engineering, Quality, Sales, and other functional leaders; establish enterprise-wide standards, processes, metrics, and operating disciplines; and facilitate collaboration among supply chain professionals.

2. Strategic Sourcing and Procurement

• Lead and support strategic sourcing initiatives across businesses, locations, product categories, and commodities, consolidating purchasing activity and leveraging enterprise-wide spend where doing so creates measurable business value.

• Develop sourcing strategies that optimize total cost, quality, delivery, service, innovation, and supply continuity; lead or support significant supplier negotiations and strategic relationships under governance that preserves local decision-making authority.

3. Supplier Management and Risk

• Develop a disciplined approach to supplier selection, qualification, performance measurement, and development, partnering with Quality and Engineering on qualification, First Article Inspection, PPAP, and corrective action.

• Identify and mitigate risks associated with single-source suppliers, geographic concentration, capacity constraints, financial instability, transportation, and geopolitical conditions, with contingency, dual-source, and business-continuity strategies for critical materials.

4. Materials, Planning, and Inventory

• Provide functional leadership and best-practice support for materials management, production planning, inventory control, forecasting, demand planning, and sales, inventory, and operations planning.

• Improve inventory performance, turns, and working capital, reduce excess and obsolete inventory, and establish meaningful supply chain KPIs, while maintaining customer service and manufacturing continuity.

5. Logistics, Systems, and Continuous Improvement

• Evaluate inbound and outbound freight strategies, leverage common carriers, freight agreements, warehousing, and distribution practices, and support domestic and international logistics and import/export compliance.

• Promote continuous improvement and standardization, and partner with IT and operating leadership on ERP, MRP, WMS, planning, and analytics technologies and consistent reporting on performance, cost, and risk.

6. Organizational Development, Growth, and Acquisitions

• Mentor and serve as a functional resource for supply chain leaders, assess organizational structures, capabilities, staffing, and succession needs, and develop internal talent and career paths across the family of companies.

• Participate in acquisition due diligence when requested and identify post-acquisition opportunities for sourcing leverage, shared resources, process improvement, and integration to support continued growth.

Candidate Profile

The successful individual will operate as both a strategic enterprise leader and a hands-on business partner, with the ability to influence across organizational boundaries rather than relying exclusively on direct reporting relationships.

• Thinks enterprise-wide while understanding the needs of individual companies; balances standardization with appropriate local autonomy; and builds credibility with operational and business-unit leadership.

• Strong business, financial, and commercial acumen and analytical skills (total landed cost, inventory performance, standard costing), converting data into concise, practical recommendations.

• Executive-level communication, change leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and organizational-development skills, with the ability to lead through influence in a decentralized or matrixed organization.

• High integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to R.W. Beckett’s enduring values of Integrity, Excellence, and a Profound Respect for the Individual.

Required Experience and Expertise

• At least 10 years of progressively responsible supply chain, procurement, materials, logistics, or operations experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.

• Demonstrated experience in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, materials management, inventory optimization, and supply chain risk management.

• Experience developing supply chain teams, leaders, and organizational capability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience across multiple plants, business units, operating companies, or geographic locations; domestic and international sourcing and logistics experience.

• Experience in ERP/MRP-driven manufacturing environments (WMS experience strongly preferred) and supporting organizational growth, business integration, or mergers and acquisitions.

• MBA or other relevant advanced degree; APICS/ASCM (CPIM, CSCP), ISM CPSM, or comparable certification; Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous-improvement certification.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline required.

Reporting Relationship

Reports to the Vice President of Operations; serves as the senior enterprise supply chain leader, with direct leadership of assigned corporate supply chain personnel and functional guidance to operating-company supply chain teams.

Work Environment and Travel

This position operates in professional office, manufacturing, warehouse, and supplier environments. Regular presence at Company facilities and travel among operating companies, suppliers, and other business locations are required. International travel may be required based on business needs.

Additional Responsibilities

Perform other executive-level responsibilities and special projects as assigned.
