About This Position

SUMMARY

The Assistant BSA Compliance Officer ensures that the Bank’s BSA program meets regulatory requirements while enhancing organizational performance. Responsible for the development, implementation, and on-going refinement of strategies for effective compliance.

Location: Tampa, FL; Charlotte or Raleigh, NC; Middle Georgia; Hybrid/Remote

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review daily Large Cash Transaction Reports to ensure accurate completion of Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), timely submission via BSA e-filing, and proper documentation retention.
  • Analyze and resolve potential OFAC matches identified through nightly screening processes.
  • Provide research and analytical support to the BSA Officer.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of BSA, AML, and OFAC policies and procedures across all branches.
  • Performs additional compliance testing and support as needed.
  • Review and investigate AML alerts to assess risk and ensure appropriate action is taken.
  • Support audit preparation activities in collaboration with the BSA Officer.
  • Scan and archive reports into Synergy document management system.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to remain current with regulatory requirements and job responsibilities.
  • Contribute to special projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the BSA Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of an Associate degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1–2 years of prior experience in Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) compliance or banking operations preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of banking industry regulations and servicing guidelines.
  • Strong understanding of BSA/AML regulations, including the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and the USA PATRIOT Act.
  • Familiarity with the organization’s operating systems or a demonstrated willingness to learn.
  • Excellent analytical, investigative, and decision-making skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with effective organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, conduct research, and resolve problems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, follow through on assignments, and maintain thorough documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Verafin experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn applications, hardware, and software used in the Bank.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
  • Fast-paced banking/business office environment with standard office temperature, moderate noise from computer(s), printer(s), telephone, fax, copier, scanner and other office equipment, and median traffic.
  • Ability to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, reach, lift (up to 20 pounds), and stand for various lengths of time and meet other physical demands required to perform the job.
  • Ability to operate and use a computer, printer, telephone, fax, copier, scanner, other office equipment and tools needed and used to perform this job.
