Software Engineer, Co-op at Function Health – Boston, Massachusetts

This role is specifically for students participating in the Northeastern University co-op program and is a full-time (40 hours/week), 6-month opportunity aligned to the July–December co-op cycle.

Candidates must be based in the Boston area. While Function Health is a fully remote company, this role includes one week of in-person onboarding in Boston, followed by monthly in-person meetups for the duration of the program.

We build the underlying system that interprets member biology to provide clinically grounded planning and actions the way a doctor would. You'll join a small team tackling real, high-impact problems at the core of the Navigating Care experience:

Clinical Reasoning Engine. Work on the system that interprets member biology to provide clinically grounded planning and actions. Turn lab results, biomarkers, and health data into personalized, doctor-quality recommendations.

Agentic Chat. Help build our AI doctor, a conversational experience that can reason about a member's health, answer questions, and guide them through next steps with the depth and care of a real physician.

Adherence Automation. Build systems that help members follow through on their health guidance. Design intelligent nudges, reminders, and follow-ups that adapt to each member's needs and progress.
