Job Summary
The Back Shop Supervisor is responsible for tasks within the Aviation Back Shop section including inspection, test, repair, maintenance, and service of aircraft batteries and accessories using test equipment and hand tools as needed to return components to service per FAA and manufacturers specifications. This position is also responsible for the overall day-to-day training, development and oversight of all Aviation Back Shop Technicians.
Duties & Responsibilities- Directly supervises assigned technicians
- Responsible for motivating, mentoring, training, and providing constructive criticism to technicians
- Ability to perform all Back Shop Technician Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize and prioritize workflow on all back shop processes
- Makes technical decisions regarding discrepancies and job flow
- Maintains high level of communication with internal and external customers on all assigned projects
- Inspects conditions of batteries, tires, and other accessories, and replaces/repairs components as needed.
- Ensures proper care of customer property at all phases of maintenance work.
- Continually keeps clean and organized work area including personal toolbox.
- Understands and follows safety procedures and utilizes support equipment in a safe manner.
- Completes all documentation in an efficient and timely matter.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Minimum four (4) years’ experience working with general aviation airframes supported by Western Aircraft
- Entry level supervisory experience
- Airframe and Powerplant license preferred
- In lieu of an A&P license, candidate must have the ability to obtain a Repairman’s Certification within six months of hire.
- Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Ability to obtain Airport Issued security badge
- Work is performed in an aircraft hangar environment with moderate noise level. The employee is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
