About the Role:
The 1st Shift Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing all maintenance activities during the first shift to ensure optimal operation of facility equipment and infrastructure. This role involves managing a team of maintenance technicians, coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The Maintenance Manager will develop and implement maintenance schedules, troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues, and collaborate with other departments to support production goals. A key outcome of this position is to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment through effective maintenance strategies. Ultimately, the role ensures that the facility operates efficiently, safely, and in alignment with organizational objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in maintenance or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively during a shift.
- Familiarity with maintenance management systems (CMMS) and safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related discipline.
- Certifications such as Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) or OSHA safety certification.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems and data analysis tools.
- Strong project management skills and experience implementing maintenance improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, and mentor the first shift maintenance team to achieve high performance and adherence to safety protocols.
- Plan, schedule, and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities to reduce equipment downtime.
- Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and operational issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and documentation to support compliance and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and safety teams to align maintenance efforts with operational requirements and safety standards.
Skills:
The required skills enable the Maintenance Manager to effectively lead a team, diagnose and resolve equipment issues, and maintain compliance with safety standards on a daily basis. Technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems is essential for troubleshooting and guiding maintenance activities.
