Job Summary

The Director of Diagnostic Imaging is responsible for the overall operation and administration of the imaging services at Northfield Hospital + Clinics. The position ensures operations function at top levels of customer expectations, effectiveness, and efficiency. The director will lead the imaging team to ensure successful operations, high level of service, engaged and competent staff, budgeting, financial planning and reporting, certification and regulatory compliance, collaboration/partnership with others, quality assurance, and process improvement.

Key Accountabilities
  • Strategic Management
    • Communicates the mission, values and strategic plan.
    • Develops and communicates departmental goals and objectives.
  • Financial Management
    • Prepares, monitors, and adjusts annual departmental operating and capital budget in conjunction with the Chief Operating Officer to assure cost effective utilization of personnel, equipment, and supplies while maintaining quality patient care.
    • Monitors approved budget monthly, explaining variances.
    • Analyzes and evaluates clinic services to improve quality of patient care and utilization of staff time.
    • Monitors productivity of all departments. Approves assigned personnel’s bi-weekly payroll.
    • Ensures necessary staffing is provided for all shifts by monitoring, evaluating, and modifying staffing patterns utilizing national guidelines and departmental staffing plan.
    • Ensures availability and operation of necessary equipment and supplies for patient care.
  • Human Resource Management
    • Interviews and hires applicants. Cultivates an atmosphere that promotes recruitment, retention, and employee appreciation. Promotes good employee relations. Establishes and maintains a climate in which personnel can attain their maximum potential in performance.
    • Counsels employees when appropriate and collaborates with the Chief Operating Officer or Human Resources when needed.
    • Investigates, resolves, and documents with tact and diplomacy the resolution of complaints or incidents concerning patients, visitors, staff, or other customers.
    • Approves and contributes to the orientation and education programs for assigned personnel. Coordinates the educational activities of the department, communicates new / revised policies, protocols, standards and instructions to assigned personnel. Creates an environment of professional growth and development.
    • Prepares and reviews personnel performance evaluations and initiates personnel action such as merit increases, corrective action and termination.
  • Performance Improvement
    • Monitors, implements, and participates in continuous quality improvement processes regarding topics pertinent to the department. Communicates with various departments, Department Directors, and Medical Staff to resolve operational problems and improve quality of services.
    • Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of clinic services, analyzing appropriate internal and external data and information to identify opportunities for improving services and patient outcomes.
    • Promotes and monitors regulatory agency standards and customer service expectations for the practice of all aspects of imaging services.
    • Collaborates with internal resources including Risk Management, Quality Management, Infection Prevention, and others as identified, programs to meet the needs of the imaging staff, providers and patients.
  • Appropriate Clinical Practice Knowledge
    • Promotes integrating evidence-based knowledge into the identification of best practice in the delivery of imaging services to the appropriate population.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: College Graduate with a degree in business, or health care administration.
  • 3 years previous supervision or progressive leadership experience
  • Certification by ARRT and/or ARDMS
  • Current BLS must be enrolled in NH+C RQI program and complete the requirements within 90 days of enrollment. Must remain current (complete quarterly assignments prior to the end of each calendar quarter).
  • Initial Crisis Prevention Certification (CPI) within six months.
  • Workplace Violence education in New Employee Orientation and annually thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • · Advanced degree in business, healthcare or healthcare administration.
  • · Five years management experience
  • · Experience managing multiple departments.
