Position Summary
Join a publicly traded, NYSE-listed global 3PL managing complex multi-modal accounts across 100+ trade lanes.
The Carrier Sales Representative is a base plus commissions role responsible for sourcing, onboarding, and managing relationships with transportation carriers to support the efficient movement of freight. This role negotiates rates, coordinates shipments, and ensures timely delivery while maintaining a reliable carrier network and delivering excellent customer service.
This position plays a critical role in optimizing transportation operations and driving customer satisfaction through strong relationship management, effective negotiation, and proactive problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Carrier Management
Source, vet, and onboard carriers, including trucking companies and logistics providers Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with carriers Develop a reliable and scalable carrier network
Rate Negotiation & Procurement
Negotiate competitive rates based on market conditions, lanes, and customer requirements Evaluate carrier pricing to ensure cost-effective solutions
Shipment Coordination
Schedule and manage shipments from pickup through delivery Track shipments and proactively resolve delays or service issues Ensure all load details and documentation are accurate and complete
Customer & Stakeholder Communication
Communicate shipment updates and resolve inquiries in a timely manner Collaborate with internal teams to meet customer expectations
Compliance & Documentation
Maintain accurate shipping documentation (e.g., bills of lading) Ensure adherence to transportation regulations and company policies
Market Awareness & Reporting
Monitor market trends, capacity, and pricing fluctuations Analyze data to identify cost savings and operational improvements Report on carrier performance and shipment metrics
Problem Solving
Address service disruptions, delays, or claims efficiently Implement contingency plans as needed
Education & Experience
High school diploma required Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred) 1+ year of customer-facing experience required (customer or carrier) Experience in carrier sales, freight brokerage, or logistics (preferred) Prior sales or marketing experience is a plus (sales or logistics) Ability and willingness to work on Saturday and Sunday
Core Skills
Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills Excellent verbal and written communication Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities Knowledge of transportation industry practices and regulations
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) preferred Comfortable using internet tools and social platforms for sourcing

Work Schedule
Either Wednesday-Sunday or Thursday-Monday. Or 4, 10-hour workdays - Thursday-Sunday.
Standard 8-hour workday or 4, 10-hour workdays with required meal and rest breaks.
Consistent, reliable attendance expected.
Coverage of responsibilities during absences.
Work Environment
Office-based with moderate noise levels Climate-controlled environment Remote/hybrid flexibility available after training
Physical Requirements
Regular use of computer and phone Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the workday Visual ability to work on screens and review detailed information
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000 annually plus commissions
Starting pay is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to education, work experience, skills, and job-related knowledge. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
