Summary:

An experienced clinician who possesses knowledge about substance abuse treatment. Trained in a variety of therapeutic techniques used to address issues, including depression, addiction and substance abuse, suicidal impulses, stress, problems with self-esteem, and grief. Clinicians work with individuals, families, and groups to address and treat client. Works independently with weekly supervision, is capable of directing and motivation clients toward abstinence and sobriety through specific avenues of treatment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Appropriately assesses client treatment needs and provides treatment recommendations.
  • Completes required documentation timely.
  • Provides individual and group counseling using evidence based techniques under the supervision of a licensed therapist.
  • Coordinates treatment with other providers to ensure best client care.
  • Ensures appropriate aftercare plan for all assigned clients.
  • Provides training and orientation to all new clinicians and interns.
  • Effectively manages crisis situations on the unit.
  • Documents in the clinical record according to requirements of the regulatory agencies.
  • Follows the utilization review process.
  • May be required to transport clients in personal or Agency vehicle
  • Other related duties as assigned.

*Per diem employees must accept at least one available shift within a 30-day period to maintain active employment status.

*All agency staff are required to attend all mandatory department/agency meetings and trainings*

*Attendance at required staff meetings and assigned trainings is now a condition of employment and will be treated as paid work time.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related field.
  • One year post graduate experience in counseling substance abusers or mental health clients.
  • Knowledge of community resources available to substance abusers.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary setting.
  • Experience in individual, group and family therapy.
  • Knowledge of the 12 Step Program.
  • Considerable written and oral communication skills.

Education &/Or Experience:

Master’s Degree in Human Services Field and a provisional license in Behavioral Health Field. CT Professional Licensure (LMSW, LMFTA, LPCA) required.
