About This Position

Job Summary: The ARNP completes assessment of health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implements treatment plan, and evaluates patient status. It is a direct patient care role requiring basic through advanced clinical knowledge and skills, i.e., a greater depth and breadth of knowledge, the ability to synthesize data, and a hallmark increased autonomy in nursing practice. The ARNP assumes responsibility and accountability for health promotion and/or maintenance including the use and prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. Communication: This position requires good oral and written communication skills and the ability to concentrate and be highly precise. Information must be exchanged using tact and persuasion appropriately. The person in this position must be able to communicate with the patient’s, staff, and others; and contribute to a positive environment. The ability to communicate in Spanish, Creole, or both is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Functions independently and or with doctor’s assistance to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill patients.
  2. Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs and orders appropriate laboratory and radiographic studies, recognize problems, establish a logical and differential diagnosis and develop a plan of care.
  3. Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
  4. Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability.
  5. Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
  6. Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
  7. Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools
  8. Nurse Practitioner needs to stay updated with the latest information about the medical facilities and processes and with documenting progress notes and assessments in EMR.
  9. Promptly and accurately documents progress notes and assessments in Electronic Health Record to ensure up-to-date patient information.
  10. Provides instruction and guidance to the nursing staff for carrying out various tasks.
  11. May occasionally need to travel from one clinic to another for coverage.


Education & Training:

  1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  2. Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
  3. Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure.
  4. Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area if applicable.
  5. Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS).
  6. Eligible for Hospital Privileges.

Experience:

  1. Minimum three (3) years’ experience in the Nurse Practitioner role preferred.

Requirements:

  1. Level 2 background clearance required.
  2. Must have all necessary vaccinations, a PPD Test is done once upon hire.
