Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The primary purpose of this position is to work collaboratively within the interdisciplinary health care team to support quality improvement projects, patient safety, infection prevention initiatives, and improving health outcomes in a cost-effective manner to meet or exceed Aultman Health System’s customer expectations. Additional responsibilities include coordination of hospital-wide education and on-going colleague development. Supports a leadership-driven, organization-wide commitment to quality of care, patient safety, and service. Supports the adherence to legislative regulations, accreditation standards, and professional liability requirements. Reports to the Director of Quality for Aultman Orrville Hospital.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

  • Assist with data collection and analysis of both internal and external quality measures and initiatives
  • Coordinate tracking and reporting of clinical outcomes
  • Facilitate required (regulatory) reporting in appropriate time frames
  • Assist with monitoring or focused reviews to audit sustained performance or the need for further adjustments in processes
  • Lead patient experience reporting and initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and outcomes
  • Maintain strong working relationship with internal and external customers
  • Collaborate with Risk Management, Regulatory Team, and Administration to identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Responsible for data integrity and use of applicable reporting systems including but not limited to Midas, QualityNet, NHSN (National Healthcare Safety Network), and Sentri 7.
  • Coordinate New Colleague Orientation and continuing education of employees
  • Coordinate and/or participate in Medical Staff, multidisciplinary, and other hospital-based committees
  • Work with department leaders to compile information, analyze data and develop action plans for improvement based on monitoring activities/outcomes
  • Utilize quality and process improvement tools, as needed, to meet organizational goals
  • Demonstrates, creates, and fosters a work environment that is consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Aultman health System and provides care that consistently complies with the Aultman Corporate Service Standards and high reliability culture
  • Maintain professional affiliations to enhance professional growth and remain current with the latest trends in hospital administration
  • Evaluates educational needs in the clinical settings of the hospital
  • Coordinates American Heart Association courses and other required clinical courses
  • Assists with planning and completion of orientation activities and participates in Nurse Education Council
  • Maintains education records of hospital colleagues
  • Complies with organizational policies, procedures, and code of conduct
  • Represents the hospital by volunteering for community activities which may include participation at community events, activities or on local boards
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio with unrestricted license
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum two years’ clinical experience
  • Completion of CPHQ certification (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) or similar certification recommended
  • Demonstration of strong leadership skills including critical thinking, decision analysis, collaboration, change management and strategic planning
  • Ability to set priorities and reprioritize as needed
  • Ability to function both independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to use conflict resolution and negotiating skills to resolve problems
  • Organized, analytical, and efficient in performance of duties
  • Computer skills with programs including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstration of strong communication skills including educator, presenter and speaker capabilities
  • Demonstrate flexibility, personal integrity, knowledge of the importance of maintaining confidentiality, and have the ability to work effectively with all levels of hospital personnel
  • Completion of CPHQ or similar certification within two years of employment

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Flexible day shift Monday – Friday or hours as required by the job, potential for off shift and/or weekend hours
  • Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day
  • Sitting/standing/moving about during working hours
