Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Commercial Asset Recovery Specialist to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the recovery and remarketing of a variety of assets, as well as supporting departmental growth and process improvements. The ideal candidate will work closely with senior leadership to ensure efficient asset recovery and liquidation, helping our organization optimize asset management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liquidate assets within company guidelines, ensuring compliance with established policies.
- Initiate and coordinate the recovery process for all assigned commercial and consumer accounts, under the direction of the VP of Operations or President.
- Verify that all vendors and suppliers have signed Terms of Service contracts in accordance with the company’s Contract Legal Review & Approval Policy, including approval through the Legal department and the United Leasing & Finance President prior to utilization.
- Assist in the purchase of new assets and manage logistics related to asset recovery and remarketing.
- Support departmental process improvement initiatives to enhance recovery efficiency and effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate records of recovery activities, asset status, and vendor communications.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely and compliant recovery operations.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Associate-level college degree or the equivalent of 2+ years of relevant work experience is required.
- Proven experience in asset recovery, collections, or remarketing within a commercial or financial environment.
- Strong understanding of asset liquidation processes and legal contract review.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and asset management software.

PURPOSE OF JOB:
This position is responsible for departmental support functions in the recovery and remarketing of commercial accounts. Supports the Director of Special Assets in the purchase of new assets, logistics, and overall departmental process improvement.
JOB DUTIES:
Delinquent & Unsecured Commercial Accounts
- Liquidate assets within company guidelines.
- Initiate and coordinate the recovery of all commercial and consumer accounts as assigned by President or VP of Operations.
- Verify that all vendors/suppliers have a signed Terms of Service contract consistent with our company’s Contract Legal Review & Approval Policy, including approval through our Legal department and by the United Leasing & Finance President, prior to utilizing their services. This position does not have contract signing authority.
- Engage and maintain priority communication with all recovery agents.
- Engage and maintain effective relationships with a variety of transportation companies.
- Partner with the Director of Asset Management to evaluate the assets prior to recovery. Confirm the evaluation when we receive the condition report.
- Negotiate all reconditioning, storage, and repair estimates for recovered assets.
- Ensure that the repossession log has all the needed information, including but not limited to equipment/vehicle location, mileage, condition report, personal guarantors, original asset cost, net book value, principal, and including all known fees, such as legal, repossession, reconditioning, transportation, etc.
- Ensure the Unsecured Asset Log stays current and is updated at least weekly, or on demand as requested.
- Assign equipment/vehicles as designated by the Director of Asset Management to dedicated remarketing companies.
- Ensure that all assigned equipment/vehicles have contractual approval by the President of ULF.
- Create and maintain a database of all recovery, remarketing and transportation vendors.
- Notify the Director of Asset Management of any aged assets and associated plans of action.
Administrative
- Identify and purchase all PTI new lease assets in conformance with specifications provided by Executive Chairman or EVP, Administration.
- Update off-lease inventory spreadsheet daily (e.g. add post-sale offers on non-sold vehicles).
- Complete paperwork that is associated with the pick-up and sale of vehicles.
- Utilize internal/external software to promote a paperless environment, where possible.
- Coordinate asset and account information with internal departments.
General
- Ensure prompt and regular attendance.
- Perform other appropriate duties as may be assigned by Management.
- Travel as business needs may require.
Continuous Improvement
- Partner with the Director of Asset Management to identify inefficiencies within department processes and recommend solutions to improve department optimization.
- Personally commit to quality in all aspects of work.

- Participate in and promote the established Quality Improvement Process (QIP) for continuous improvement.
- Participate on teams to research, measure, and correct problems and to strive for process improvement.

- Attend at least ten (10) credit hours of training annually to continue development of work-related skills.
- Assist in the development, organization and updating of departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Policies & Procedures (P&P’s).

Requirements:Education:
- High school diploma is minimally required.
- Associate-level college degree or equivalent of 2+ years relatable work experience is minimally required.
Experience:
- 5+ years of prior relevant work experience is preferred.
