Job Description

Description: In conjunction with customer requirements and company standards, the Production Supervisor provides support for production and non-production areas. Responsibilities are performed under the general direction of the Operations Manager. Duties include following standard operating procedures, supervising staff, organizing workflow, and maintaining quality and performance standards while exceeding our customer’s expectations with quality service promptly.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

· Evaluate and determine staffing needs in conjunction with Operations Manager by communicating job expectations

· Plan, monitor, and assess employee output; and coach, counsel, and/or discipline when necessary

· Enforce all safety and quality systems, policies, and procedures

· Maintain workflow by monitoring steps of the process; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources

· Ensure 5S systems are followed, maintained, and implemented

· Focus on elimination of operator downtime through the use of lean manufacturing and waste elimination principles

· Encourage and compile feedback from assembly operators to determine potential efficiency improvements that could lead to cost reductions

· Follow reporting procedures and systems; facilitate corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between departments

· Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel based on priorities illustrated in the production schedule; accomplish safety, quality, and efficiency results; monitor progress; revise schedules as needed; resolve problems; report results of the processing flow on shift production summaries

· Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards

· Ensure operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques (when applicable)

· Provide manufacturing information by compiling, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions, and responding to requests

· Assist in the creation and revision of systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, and forms of control

· Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintain compliance with established policies and procedures

· Resolve personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action

· Maintain staffing levels, time-keeping records, and monitoring staff attendance records

· Administer staff performance reviews, training, and disciplinary counseling

Additional Job Functions

· Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations

· Perform special projects as directed

· Perform other related duties as required

· Perform operator duties as needed

Requirements: Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

· High School diploma or GED with a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a related field or a technical degree plus 1-2 years of leadership experience

· Must have demonstrated Human Relations and Leadership skills sufficient to communicate performance expectations, motivate, and retain staff members as required

· Must be detail-oriented and have good planning and organization skills

· Must have strong verbal and written communication skills as this position interacts with co-workers, office and managerial staff

· Must have excellent reading, analytical, mathematical, and mechanical aptitude skills

· Must have adequate computer skills to create and process reports, email, etc. (Excel, Word, and Outlook experience preferred)

· Able to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications

· Must maintain required training records per IATF 16949 and AS procedures

· Must be able to come in early and stay late as the need arises

· Proficiency in the use of ERP systems for MES, production planning, inventory management, and quality control

(ADA) Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of maintenance equipment and tools. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to use body members to work, move, or carry objects or materials. Must be able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to twenty-five pounds frequently. Physical demand requirements are at the levels of those for physically active work. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of up to fifty pounds. Must be able to stand for a prolonged period.

Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable functional, structural, or compositional characteristics (whether like or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people, or things.

Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information related to administrative duties.

Language Ability: Requires the ability to speak with and before others with poise, voice control, and confidence using correct English and well-modulated voice.

Intelligence: Requires the ability to learn and understand relatively complex principles and techniques related to administrative and clerical duties; to make independent judgments in the absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation.

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, explain procedures, and follow verbal and written instructions.

Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; add, subtract, multiply, and divide figures; determine percentages; determine time weight.

Physical Communication: Requires the ability to talk and/or hear talking, expressing, or exchanging ideas using spoken words. (Hearing – perceiving nature of sounds by ear)
