Career Opportunity: Supported Child Development Worker

Location: Burns Lake (Southside), BC

Employment Type: Term – Ending March 31, 2027, Full-Time (35 hours per week)

The Opportunity: The Supported Child Development Worker provides individualized support to children with developmental or additional support needs, helping them fully participate in childcare, preschool, and after-school settings. The role partners with families and childcare staff to promote inclusion, implement developmental goals, and support children's overall growth and well-being.

  • Support children with extra support needs to participate fully in childcare programs and encourage positive social interactions with peers.
  • Plan and implement inclusion strategies, daily activities, and culturally appropriate experiences that support children's developmental goals and objectives.
  • Maintain communication with parents, complete daily documentation, prepare reports, and collaborate with childcare staff as part of a multidisciplinary team.

What You Will Bring to The Role:

  • Early Childhood Education (Basic and Post-Basic) or related post-secondary education in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, or a similar field, with a minimum of two years of relevant experience; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of child development, intervention techniques, childcare regulations, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic First Aid Level One certification, a valid Class 5 driver's licence with reliable transportation, and the ability to successfully complete a Criminal Record Check.

Wage Range: The target hiring range for this position is $27.8324 to $ 34.2415 per hour. Candidates will typically be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the wage range. Placement within the wage range is dependent on the applicants’ role specific knowledge, skills, abilities, related experience and in consideration of factors such as market conditions and internal equity.
