Senior QA Engineer, Fixed Term

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior QA Engineer, Fixed Term based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to drive software quality within a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
You will lead QA strategy, automation initiatives, and testing practices across complex digital products.
As a senior quality expert, you will influence engineering teams, improve processes, and mentor other QA professionals.
The position combines hands-on technical execution with strategic thinking to ensure reliable, scalable software delivery.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Accountabilities:

The Senior QA Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and improving quality assurance practices while ensuring software reliability and performance. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and the ability to collaborate across engineering teams.

  • Lead the creation and execution of comprehensive test strategies, plans, and quality processes across software projects.
  • Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks using tools such as Cypress, TypeScript, JMeter, and Postman.
  • Perform end-to-end, API, and performance/load testing to validate product quality and scalability.
  • Review code and provide recommendations to improve testability, maintainability, and overall software quality.
  • Analyze test results, identify risks, and recommend improvements to engineering and product teams.
  • Collaborate with developers, designers, and other stakeholders to integrate quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Mentor and guide junior and mid-level QA engineers by sharing best practices and technical knowledge.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote effective QA methodologies across teams.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on software testing, automation, and quality engineering practices.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in software quality assurance, automation, and engineering collaboration. They should be comfortable working independently, solving technical challenges, and influencing quality standards across teams.

  • Strong experience as a QA Engineer with expertise in designing and executing complex test strategies.
  • Advanced knowledge of Cypress, TypeScript, JMeter, Jest, Postman, SQL/databases, and Jira.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining automated test frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of API testing, end-to-end testing, and performance/load testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git and modern development workflows.
  • Experience working with AWS CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Ability to mentor other engineers and provide constructive technical guidance.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
