Job Description

Position Title: Associate Electrical Engineer - Vehicle Wiring

About Us

At Intramotev, we are dedicated to revolutionizing the freight industry by liberating tons of freight from congested highways, reducing carbon emissions, and enhancing transportation efficiency. We are deploying self-propelled battery-electric railcars and vehicles to transform freight logistics and bring innovation to our rail network. Based in St. Louis, MO, we are committed to promoting industrial revitalization, saving lives, and minimizing the environmental impact of trucking and transportation.

We actively foster a work environment for every teammate that's welcoming, respectful, and inclusive, with great opportunities for professional growth. Find your future with us.

Role Overview

We are seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer to join our electrical team and grow into ownership of the high-voltage wiring that powers our self-propelled battery-electric railcars and vehicles. This is a hands-on, early-career role on a defined growth arc: you will spend your first six months on the shop floor as an electrical technician — building and installing high-voltage vehicle wiring from run lists, schematics, and BOMs — and then grow into ownership of wire-harness documentation and the outsourcing of harness fabrication to external vendors. The role is weighted toward high-voltage vehicle wiring, harness build and installation, and installation and documentation discipline; it is not a PCB design or firmware role.

This is a full-time, 100% in-office role based in St. Louis, MO. You'll work within a team of 3–10 engineers and technicians and engage in occasional domestic travel for testing, integration, demonstrations, and customer interactions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Harness Build & Installation: Build wire harnesses, assemble panels and backplanes, and install high-voltage vehicle wiring on the shop floor, working from run lists, schematics, and BOMs — learning the product, its failure modes, and correct installation practice by doing the work alongside experienced technicians and engineers.

  • High-Voltage Safety Practice: Work safely around high-voltage systems — proper isolation, PPE, and lockout/tagout — and flag hazards that could delay a build or compromise safety.

  • Schematic & Drawing Interpretation: Read and interpret electrical schematics, wire run lists, and technical drawings, and correlate them accurately to the physical build.

  • Harness Documentation: Grow into ownership of harness documentation — wire run lists, harness drawings, connector and pinout definitions, and revision control — so the next person can build and service the vehicle correctly.

  • Outsourcing & Vendor Coordination: Manage the outsourcing of harness fabrication — preparing the documentation package, sourcing and qualifying suppliers, and validating delivered work against spec.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: {{comp_band.base}} Equity: {{comp_band.equity}}

Intramotev offers a comprehensive benefits package for all team members, including:

  • Medical coverage: We cover 100% of employee medical premiums, plus low-cost dental and vision options.

  • Vacation: Full-time employees enjoy unlimited paid time off.

  • Equity: Full-time employees receive equity in the company.

  • Parental leave: New parents receive paid time off to spend quality time with their family.

About You: Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field — or equivalent hands-on high-voltage and vehicle-wiring experience in lieu of the degree.

  • Foundational understanding of high-voltage electrical systems and safe practice around them, including proper isolation, PPE, and lockout/tagout.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wire run lists, and technical drawings, and to correlate them to a physical build.

  • Hands-on aptitude with vehicle wiring and harness assembly — comfortable on the shop floor with fabrication tools and electrical diagnostic equipment, or a clear track record showing you will get there quickly.

  • Attention to proper installation and documentation methods — doing the wiring right and recording it right so the next person can build and service it.

  • Willingness to spend the first six months hands-on as a technician before growing into the engineering and documentation scope.

  • Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your area of expertise; ability to develop innovative and novel approaches.

  • Open-minded and comfortable working in a teaming environment as an individual contributor.

  • Fluent in both written and verbal English.

  • U.S. Person (immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

Candidate should have a working knowledge of one or (ideally) multiple areas listed below:

  • Exposure to EV powertrains or high-voltage battery management systems (BMS) — our railcars are battery-electric vehicles, so EV and HV experience translates directly.

  • Familiarity with wire-harness engineering tooling — harness drawing and documentation software, connector and pinout definition, and revision control of electrical documentation.

  • Experience working with external fabrication vendors and suppliers — preparing a documentation package, sourcing, and validating delivered work.

  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as CAN bus.

  • Internship, co-op, or academic-project experience with vehicle wiring, high-voltage systems, or hands-on electrical fabrication.

  • Experience with electric vehicles, autonomous rail systems, or other unmanned systems.

Typical Education and Experience

Education and experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 0 or more years' related work experience (including internship, co-op, or university course projects), or an equivalent combination of hands-on high-voltage and vehicle-wiring experience.

Relocation

This position does not offer relocation.
