GrizzlyTrek is seeking Sawmill Cleanup Crew members to join our valued client's team in Cochrane, Alberta. This is a full-time weekend shift position, 3 days per week at 12 hours per day, paying $25.50 per hour.This is an Indigenous career opportunity and a genuine entry point into the forestry sector. Crew members who show up consistently, work safe, and learn the operation have a clear path to advance into production roles, equipment operation, and lead positions, and to keep advancing from there. No previous mill experience is required. We will train you.
What You'll Do
- Shovel and clear sawdust, bark, and wood debris from around production equipment, conveyor lines, walkways, and floor areas
- Use compressed air to blow sawdust off equipment, motors, guarding, and structural steel
- Lift, stack, and move boards and lumber as directed by the shift lead
- Perform fire watch duties, monitoring for hot spots, smouldering material, and ignition sources during and after production
- Keep walkways, stairways, and work platforms clear and free of trip and slip hazards
- Follow lockout and tagout procedures before cleaning in, on, or around any equipment
- Report hazards, equipment damage, and near misses to the shift lead right away
- Support general housekeeping, bin cleanout, and end of shift cleanup across the mill
What You Bring
- Ability to work a weekend shift, 3 days per week at 12 hours per day
- Physically fit for shovelling, lifting, bending, and standing for the majority of a 12 hour shift
- Comfortable working in a dusty, noisy industrial environment
- Reliable transportation to the Cochrane site
- Willingness to learn and follow all safety procedures, including lockout and tagout
- Strong attendance record and a solid work ethic
- CSA approved safety boots
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous sawmill, planer mill, or industrial cleanup experience
- Fire watch training or experience
- Standard First Aid certification
- Forklift, skid steer, or other equipment tickets
- Interest in advancing into production, operator, or lead roles
Work Environment
- Indoor mill environment with high levels of sawdust, noise, and vibration
- 12 hour weekend shifts with scheduled breaks
- Standing, walking, shovelling, and lifting for the majority of the shift
- Hearing and respiratory protection required in designated areas
- Full PPE at all times: hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility clothing, and CSA approved boots
