Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Pillar Lead: Automation Engineer based in the United States.
This role offers the opportunity to lead automation and orchestration initiatives supporting Zero Trust implementation and cybersecurity programs.
You will design reusable workflows, integrations, and tooling that improve how technical teams collect evidence, conduct assessments, and execute security activities.
The position combines software engineering, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, and enterprise integration to reduce manual effort and improve execution efficiency.
You will develop scripts, APIs, and automated reporting mechanisms while ensuring solutions align with secure automation practices and federal cybersecurity requirements.
The role also involves documenting architectures, dependencies, security considerations, and handoff requirements so automation can be consistently reused across initiatives.
You will work across technical workstreams and approved enterprise platforms to improve data movement, validation, and operational visibility.
This is an impactful opportunity for an experienced automation engineer who enjoys building scalable solutions in complex Federal environments.
- Lead the design of reusable automation and orchestration patterns supporting Zero Trust assessments, reporting, evidence collection, testing, and implementation workflows.
- Develop scripts, APIs, integrations, and workflow automation that connect approved enterprise tools and improve data movement across technical workstreams.
- Automate recurring cybersecurity evidence collection and exception-based analysis when reliable and authoritative data sources are available.
- Build reusable implementation tooling and standardized deployment, testing, and validation workflows that improve consistency and execution speed.
- Integrate security, analytics, ticketing, infrastructure, and other enterprise platforms to streamline cross-functional processes.
- Document automation architecture, dependencies, interfaces, security considerations, and operational handoff requirements.
- Measure the effectiveness of automation solutions and identify opportunities to improve efficiency based on implementation outcomes and lessons learned.
- Apply secure development and automation practices throughout solution design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Support Zero Trust initiatives by developing automation capabilities that enable repeatable, measurable, and scalable security processes.
- Collaborate with technical stakeholders to translate implementation requirements into practical automation solutions without creating unnecessary long-term operational or maintenance burdens.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in automation, integration, DevSecOps, security engineering, or a closely related field.
- Strong proficiency with Python, PowerShell, APIs, workflow orchestration, or comparable automation technologies.
- Demonstrated experience integrating enterprise security, analytics, ticketing, infrastructure, or related technology platforms.
- Working knowledge of Zero Trust principles, Federal cybersecurity controls, and secure automation practices.
- Strong understanding of automation architecture, system dependencies, data flows, integrations, and secure implementation practices.
- Ability to design reusable solutions rather than one-off scripts, with an emphasis on maintainability, scalability, and consistency.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities for automation and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Strong communication and documentation skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical architectures, dependencies, and implementation requirements.
- Experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, SOAR, or enterprise workflow platforms is preferred.
- Experience automating cybersecurity evidence collection, reporting, or compliance-related workflows is an advantage.
- Experience supporting large-scale Federal environments is preferred.
- One or more of the following certifications is preferred: Security+, CISSP, Azure Developer, AWS Developer, or a DevSecOps-related certification.
- Opportunity to lead automation initiatives supporting Zero Trust and Federal cybersecurity programs.
- Work across cybersecurity, software engineering, DevSecOps, integrations, and enterprise automation.
- Opportunity to develop reusable automation solutions with measurable impact on execution efficiency.
- Exposure to complex enterprise technology environments and large-scale Federal initiatives.
- Collaborative environment focused on technical innovation, service quality, and professional growth.
- Opportunity to contribute to secure, scalable, and repeatable cybersecurity implementation practices.
- Veteran-owned organization with a people-focused culture and a strong emphasis on delivering high-quality outcomes.
