Job Description

Join The Edwards Law Group as our Managing Attorney - Family Law, where your leadership will empower both our legal team and the clients we serve. Here, you'll set the standard for our associates, guiding them with feedback and examples to ensure their growth and success. You'll manage a complex caseload while overseeing a team of three to six associates, fostering a culture of quality and accountability. If you value operational excellence and believe in its power to improve client outcomes, this role will resonate deeply with you.

We are a woman-owned, minority-led, LGBTQIA+ family law firm with a mission to change lives through our work. At The Edwards Law Group, we champion integrity, empathy, and curiosity, not only in our legal representation but also within our team. As we scale, you’ll have the opportunity to shape a high-performing firm and define the future of family law with us. Your focus will be solely on leading the legal team, as firm ownership handles operations and strategy. Ready to make an impact? We’d love to hear from you.

Compensation:

$175,000 - $200,000 yearly

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a team of three to six associates, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Oversee and manage a diverse caseload, ensuring high-quality legal representation for all clients.
  • Provide strategic guidance and feedback to associates, promoting their professional growth and development.
  • Collaborate with firm ownership to align legal team objectives with overall firm strategy and goals.
  • Champion integrity, empathy, and curiosity in all client interactions and team collaborations.
  • Ensure compliance with legal standards and regulations, maintaining the firm's reputation for excellence.
  • Develop and implement innovative legal strategies to enhance client outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Lead client consultations on high-complexity and high-value cases

Qualifications:

We are not looking for someone who just checks boxes. We want someone who genuinely cares about the law, about their team, and about the people walking through our door during the hardest chapters of their lives. You can change gears quickly, think on your feet, and make smart decisions. You do not take things personally. You are a team player in every sense of the word.

One more thing: the head of this firm is a direct communicator, and that is how we operate. We say what we mean, we address issues head-on, and we expect the same from everyone on our leadership team. If you prefer to dance around hard conversations, this is not the right fit. If you thrive in an environment of clear, honest, respectful communication, you will feel right at home.

  • Active member of the State Bar of Georgia in good standing
  • Minimum 10 years of experience exclusively in family law. This is a firm requirement, not a preference
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory, senior, or lead attorney capacity, overseeing a team of attorneys
  • Deep working knowledge of O.C.G.A. Title 19 (Domestic Relations) and current Georgia case law
  • Proven courtroom experience in Georgia Superior Court; Cobb County familiarity strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated history across the full spectrum of family law: high-asset divorce, contested custody, domestic violence, legitimation, adoption, and prenuptial agreements
  • A direct, confident communicator who addresses issues head-on, gives clear feedback, and has hard conversations without hesitation or drama
  • A natural mentor who invests in people and takes real satisfaction in watching them grow
  • Detail-oriented and willing to go the extra mile to get it right the first time
  • Embraces technology and innovation and is proficient in practice management software (Lawmatics, MyCase, or similar)
  • Committed to inclusivity and respect. The clients and the team reflect the full diversity of our community, and you lead accordingly
