About the Role:
The Lead Registered Dental Hygienist plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional oral healthcare services within a dental practice in Canada. This position is responsible for leading and mentoring a team of dental hygienists while ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety are maintained. The role involves comprehensive patient assessments, developing personalized treatment plans, and performing preventive dental procedures to promote oral health. Additionally, the Lead Registered Dental Hygienist collaborates closely with dentists and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and enhance clinic operations. This leadership position also requires staying current with industry best practices and regulatory requirements to continuously improve service quality and compliance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current registration as a Dental Hygienist with the appropriate provincial regulatory body in Canada.
- Diploma or degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a registered dental hygienist.
- Strong knowledge of dental hygiene practices, infection control, and patient safety standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a dental practice.
- Certification in advanced dental hygiene procedures or specialties.
- Experience with electronic dental records (EDR) and practice management software.
- Additional training in patient education or public health dentistry.
- Bilingual abilities, particularly in English and French, to serve diverse patient populations.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough oral health assessments and screenings for patients of all ages.
- Develop and implement individualized dental hygiene treatment plans based on patient needs.
- Perform preventive dental procedures such as scaling, root planing, and polishing.
- Lead, train, and mentor junior dental hygienists to ensure consistent quality of care.
- Collaborate with dentists and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with privacy regulations.
- Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and workplace safety standards.
- Participate in community outreach and patient education initiatives to promote oral health awareness.
- Stay updated on the latest dental hygiene techniques, technologies, and regulatory changes.
