Position Summary:
This professional position plays a vital role in enriching the musical experience at the Florence J. Gillmor School of Music by providing expert musical accompaniment for rehearsals, performances, and various special events. The incumbent will collaborate closely with the full-time Staff Accompanist to support and enhance the artistic vision of our talented musicians and performers. This position requires a keen understanding of diverse musical styles and the ability to adapt to the dynamic needs of the school’s programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide piano accompaniment for weekly private vocal lessons
- Provide piano accompaniment for private instrumental students:
- Accompany for lessons and end-of semester juries.
- Provide piano accompaniment for Scholarship auditions
- Provide piano accompaniment for opera theatre staging rehearsals
- SummerSong pianist
- May substitute for other collaborative pianists when needed
- May serve as collaborative pianist for other performances when needed
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Technical and musical mastery of the piano.
- Knowledge of the vocal and instrumental literature that requires piano accompaniment.
- Strong sight-reading skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse body of musicians.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Music in piano performance or collaborative piano.
