Job Description
The VP, Business Banking Relationship Manager is responsible for acquiring, developing, and managing business banking relationships with a primary focus on commercial deposit growth and new client acquisition.
This role is designed for a seasoned Business Banker or Commercial Relationship Manager who has an established network, a proven history of generating new relationships and deposits, and the ability to contribute to growth immediately. The Relationship Manager will serve as a trusted advisor to business owners, delivering comprehensive banking solutions across commercial deposits, treasury and cash management, and credit.
While commercial lending and credit expertise are important components of the role, deposit generation, relationship acquisition, and overall relationship growth are the primary focus.

Key Responsibilities
Deposit Growth & New Business Acquisition
- Develop and execute a business development strategy focused on acquiring new business banking relationships and commercial deposits.
- Generate new deposit opportunities through prospecting, referrals, networking, centers of influence, and community involvement.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective business clients.
- Grow operating deposits and expand Servbank's share of clients' overall banking relationships.
- Leverage an established network of business owners, professional contacts, and referral sources to generate new opportunities.
- Develop relationships with centers of influence, including accountants, attorneys, commercial real estate professionals, and business consultants.
Relationship & Portfolio Management
- Manage and expand a portfolio of business and commercial banking relationships.
- Develop a strong understanding of clients' businesses, industries, financial positions, and banking needs.
- Conduct regular relationship reviews to identify opportunities for additional deposits, treasury services, and other banking solutions.
- Retain and deepen existing relationships through proactive and consultative client engagement.
- Serve as the primary relationship manager and trusted banking advisor for assigned clients and prospects.
- Monitor relationship profitability and overall portfolio performance.
Treasury & Cash Management
- Identify opportunities to provide treasury management, cash management, payment, and liquidity solutions.
- Partner with Treasury Management to develop customized solutions based on client needs.
- Use treasury and operating relationships to strengthen client retention and support long-term deposit growth.
Commercial Lending & Credit
- Identify appropriate credit opportunities within existing and prospective client relationships.
- Structure and originate commercial credit opportunities, including lines of credit, term loans, and owner-occupied commercial real estate financing.
- Review financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and business performance.
- Partner with Credit Administration and Underwriting throughout the credit approval process.
- Maintain appropriate credit quality and risk management within the portfolio.
Risk & Compliance
- Adhere to applicable regulatory requirements, bank policies, and compliance standards.
- Maintain appropriate client and relationship documentation.
- Identify and address potential credit, operational, and reputational risks.
- 5+ years of experience in Business Banking, Commercial Banking, or Relationship Management within a banking environment.
- Proven success generating new commercial deposits and acquiring new business banking relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to independently prospect, develop, and close new business.
- Experience managing an established portfolio of business or commercial banking clients.
- Strong understanding of commercial deposit products, treasury management, and cash management solutions.
- Established network of business clients, prospects, referral partners, and/or centers of influence.
- Commercial lending and credit experience, including financial statement and cash-flow analysis.
- Demonstrated success achieving deposit, relationship growth, and business development goals.
- Strong communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing a portfolio of approximately $50 million to $100 million in commercial deposits.
- Experience managing approximately $25 million to $40 million in commercial credit.
- Experience managing approximately 50 to 100 business/commercial client relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage an existing network to generate new commercial deposit relationships.
- Formal commercial credit training.
- Strong treasury and cash management experience.
- Experience with SBA and owner-occupied commercial real estate lending.
