Reports to: Regional Sales Director
Position SummaryThe Sales Representative is an inside sales position responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, responding to inbound sales opportunities, assisting clients with rental selections, preparing accurate quotes and orders, and helping grow revenue through thoughtful and proactive selling.
This role is often one of the first points of contact a customer has with our company and plays an important part in creating an exceptional client experience. The Sales Representative is expected to answer incoming calls and emails promptly, understand each customer’s event needs, recommend appropriate products, and identify opportunities to enhance the event through additional rental items and services.
Success in this position requires strong communication skills, exceptional organization, attention to detail, product knowledge, time management, and a genuine desire to help customers. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of responsiveness and accuracy.
While this is primarily an inside sales position, Sales Representatives are encouraged to develop relationships within the Birmingham event community and may occasionally participate in networking events, venue visits, client events, or other business development activities as needed.

This is an on-site position based in Kansas City, MO.
Requirements:
Inside Sales & Customer Service
· Answer incoming sales calls and respond promptly and professionally to customer emails and inquiries.
· Serve as a knowledgeable and welcoming first point of contact for new and existing customers.
· Ask thoughtful questions to understand the client’s event, priorities, budget, venue, and rental needs.
· Guide customers through available rental products, services, and options.
· Prepare quotes, contracts, and rental orders accurately and efficiently.
· Follow up on open quotes and customer inquiries to help convert opportunities into confirmed business.
· Maintain consistent communication with clients throughout the rental process.
· Provide timely and professional responses to questions, changes, and concerns.
· Deliver an exceptional customer experience during every interaction.
Product Knowledge & Suggestive Selling· Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of company inventory, services, rental policies, and capabilities.
· Proactively recommend products that complement the customer’s existing selections or improve the overall event experience.
· Use product knowledge to identify items customers may have overlooked or may need for successful event execution.
· Suggest alternatives when requested products are unavailable, outside budget, or not appropriate for the event.
· Identify opportunities to increase order value through thoughtful, needs-based suggestive selling.
· Stay informed about new inventory, product collections, trends, and company capabilities.
· Participate in product training and continuing education as provided.
· Ensure recommendations are based on the client’s needs rather than simply increasing the size of an order.
Showroom Experience· Welcome clients and create a professional, organized, and inviting showroom experience.
· Assist and facilitate showroom appointments and walk-in visits.
· Help clients explore rental selections, product combinations, colors, styles, and event concepts.
· Prepare for scheduled client appointments by reviewing event details and understanding the purpose of the visit.
· Assist with pulling samples or coordinating product displays when appropriate.
· Demonstrate product knowledge while guiding clients through selections.
· Maintain awareness of showroom presentation and communicate any needs or concerns to management.
· Follow up after showroom appointments regarding quotes, selections, or outstanding decisions.
Client Relationship Development· Help develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients.
· Learn the preferences and needs of repeat customers to provide increasingly personalized service.
· Build trust through responsiveness, accuracy, professionalism, and follow-through.
· Identify opportunities to strengthen relationships and encourage repeat business.
· Support Account Executives and sales leadership with client communication when appropriate.
· Participate in networking events, venue functions, open houses, or industry events when requested.
· Represent the company professionally in all client and industry interactions.
Order Accuracy & Follow-Through· Maintain ownership of assigned orders and ensure information is accurate and complete.
· Review contracts carefully before finalization to confirm quantities, dates, pricing, delivery information, and customer expectations.
· Update orders promptly as client needs change.
· Collect all required event and delivery information according to company procedures.
· Identify questions, inconsistencies, inventory concerns, or unusual requests and seek assistance when appropriate.
· Avoid committing to products, services, pricing exceptions, or operational requirements without proper confirmation.
· Communicate important customer updates promptly to the appropriate internal teams.
· Maintain accurate notes and documentation within company systems.
· Take ownership of errors and assist in resolving issues quickly and professionally.
Sales Performance & KPI Accountability· Meet established individual sales and customer service expectations.
· Consistently follow up on open quotes and active sales opportunities.
· Maintain accurate client and opportunity information within the CRM and rental software.
· Understand individual performance goals and participate in regular performance discussions.
· Use sales results and activity metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.

Team & Operational Support· Work collaboratively with Account Executives, Sales Leadership, Operations, and other departments.
· Support management personnel and members of the sales team as needed.
· Assist with overflow calls, emails, quotes, showroom appointments, and client needs during high-volume periods.
· Communicate proactively when workloads, deadlines, or customer needs require additional support.
· Participate in sales meetings, product trainings, and company meetings as required.
· Maintain a team-first attitude and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment.
· Understand how sales decisions affect Operations and seek guidance before making unusual or complex commitments.
Time Management & Organization· Manage time effectively while balancing phone calls, emails, quotes, showroom visits, customer follow-up, and administrative responsibilities.
· Prioritize work based on customer needs, event dates, deadlines, and business impact.
· Maintain organized client records, tasks, notes, and follow-up reminders.
· Meet established deadlines and communicate proactively when additional time or assistance is needed.
· Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
· Previous sales, customer service, hospitality, retail, event, or related experience preferred.
· Strong customer service orientation and desire to create exceptional client experiences.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong organizational and time-management skills.
· Exceptional attention to detail.
· Ability to learn a large and evolving rental inventory.
· Comfortable recommending products and asking for the sale.

· Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
· Ability and willingness to learn company CRM, rental management, and other technology platforms.
· Reliable transportation for occasional networking events, venue visits, trainings, or other company-related activities.
Experience within event rentals, hospitality, catering, weddings, corporate events, interior design, retail sales, or a related customer-facing industry is preferred but not required.
