Material Handler in Mississauga, Ontario at Veseris

Primary Purpose:

Perform warehouse activities, picking & packing orders, maintaining inventory levels, shipping & receiving to meet customer order demands.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

· Responsible for ensuring all tasks are completed in a safe and timely manner.

· Correct and/or report any unsafe conditions or hazards immediately and work towards goal of “zero” injuries and incidents.

· Participate in cycle counts as directed.

· Ensure that the storage areas and warehouse is kept clean and tidy, which includes identifying areas where processes could be improved, and work practices amended.

· Provides services for the prompt and accurate filling, packing, and shipping of customer orders.

· Provides for the efficient receiving, marking, and stocking of merchandise; ensures the maintenance and protection of warehouse stocks, supplies, and equipment.

· Ensures compliance with all labeling and shipping laws and regulations on merchandise shipped from warehouse.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

· Must be able to work under Company policies where experience and independent judgment are needed.

· Should be familiar with the office workflow, operations of each department, particular products and their handling problems, and knowledge of all departments within the warehouse.

· Must be able to work with others.

· Ability to operate an industrial powered lift truck or forklift according to company procedures and governmental regulations.

· Ability to use and maintain respiratory protection equipment.

· Ability to learn proper methods for handling hazardous materials and wastes, with training.

Education/Training

· High School Diploma, or GED with additional schooling or equivalent business experience.

· Ability to read, write, count, understand and speak English.

Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions:

· The physical ability to lift and carry at least 60 lb. net bags for short distances.

· The physical ability to tilt back or break 400 lb. net drums onto a dolly.

· The physical ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.

· Exposure to fumes, dirt, noise and hazardous chemicals on a daily basis. May require safety equipment and/or precautions.
