Job Description

Position Summary

The Galvanizing Scheduler/Planner is responsible for accurately entering and maintaining the daily inventory of steel received at the galvanizing facility in Monday.com. This position will track incoming material, maintain accurate job statuses, and assist with planning and coordinating work through the galvanizing process.

The position will initially focus on steel inventory entry and tracking but is expected to develop into a broader scheduling and production-planning role. As the employee gains knowledge of the operation, additional responsibilities will include establishing production priorities, monitoring turnaround times, coordinating schedules, and communicating job statuses to the appropriate departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Enter all steel received at the galvanizing facility into Monday.com each day.
  • Record customer name, project or job number, material description, quantity, weight, date received, requested completion date, and current status.
  • Review receiving documents, packing slips, bills of lading, purchase orders, and other paperwork for completeness and accuracy.
  • Confirm that materials received match the applicable shipping and receiving documentation.
  • Maintain accurate material and job statuses as steel moves through the galvanizing process.
  • Identify and report missing, damaged, mislabeled, or incorrectly documented material.
  • Monitor incoming jobs and assist with establishing daily production priorities.
  • Coordinate with receiving, production, quality control, shipping, customer service, and management regarding job requirements and priorities.
  • Track jobs from receipt through production, completion, and shipment.
  • Monitor turnaround times and report jobs that may be delayed.
  • Assist with preparing daily and weekly production schedules.
  • Update the production schedule when priorities, material availability, customer requirements, or operational conditions change.
  • Help ensure urgent and priority orders are properly communicated to the appropriate departments.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical inventory and scheduling records.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory and production reports.
  • Assist with physical inventory counts and inventory reconciliation.
  • Communicate job-status updates to management and other departments.
  • Participate in production and scheduling meetings as requested.
  • Follow all company safety policies while working in or entering plant areas.
  • Perform additional scheduling, planning, inventory, and operational duties as assigned.

Future Growth Responsibilities

As knowledge of the galvanizing operation develops, the position may assume responsibility for:

  • Developing and managing the daily galvanizing production schedule.
  • Planning jobs based on customer requirements, available capacity, material type, weight, size, and operational priorities.
  • Evaluating workload and identifying potential production delays or capacity concerns.
  • Coordinating schedule changes with plant leadership and affected departments.
  • Tracking on-time completion and turnaround performance.
  • Preparing scheduling, capacity, backlog, and productivity reports.
  • Supporting manpower and resource-planning discussions.
  • Communicating expected completion dates and schedule changes.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve workflow, inventory accuracy, and scheduling processes.
  • Training employees on Monday.com and departmental tracking procedures.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in scheduling, production planning, inventory control, receiving, logistics, manufacturing, or administrative support preferred.
  • Experience with Monday.com or another scheduling, inventory, production, or project-management system is preferred.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong data-entry skills with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to read and understand receiving documents, job information, and material descriptions.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to organize changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with multiple departments.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish is preferred.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to work in both an office and industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to walk through receiving, storage, production, and shipping areas.
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work around steel products, forklifts, trucks, machinery, noise, heat, and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and inspect material as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds when necessary.

Classification

This position is anticipated to be full-time and non-exempt and may be eligible for overtime under company policy and applicable law.
