Overview
Position Summary:
Plans, integrates, controls, and evaluates staff, material, and fiscal resources required to provide
patient care in the Operating Room. Facilitates, coordinates, and manages staff, material, and
financial resources to achieve patient outcomes/care and to promote professional
development/practice of staff.
Responsibilities
Position Specific Competencies:
1. Able to deal with frustration and stress appropriately. Remains calm under pressure.
2. Effectively and professionally communicates with other staff, physicians, shift supervisor and
ancillary departments
3. Uses appropriate problem-solving approach to plan performance of services.
4. Provides services with consideration of the physical, psycho-social, cultural/spiritual, and agespecific needs of those served.
5. Use equipment/supplies correctly.
6. Uses appropriate safety and infection control measures.
7. Teaches/directs/advises/informs others in an appropriate manner.
8. Reports/records information correctly.
9. Ensures critical services are provided during inclement weather disasters.
10. Able to rotate in clinical role as staff when needed.
11. OR Administrative Call Schedule with other nurse assistants as needed.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the
essential functions of this position.
Education/formal training/licensure/certification experience:
1. Current North Carolina RN license or RN multi-state licensure privilege through the Nurse
Licensure Compact required.
2. BSN degree preferred.
3. Minimum of three years OR experience required
4. Minimum of one year experience in specialty area
5. BCLS required
6. CNOR preferred
7. RNFA experience recommended

1. Communicates effectively with a wide range of age groups, ethnic, educational, and
socioeconomic backgrounds.
2. Demonstrates physical assessment skills. Displays effective organizational skills, with ability
to prioritize with accuracy and speed.
3. Illustrates efficient computer skills within service provided.
4. Shows effective problem solving and can develop critical thinking skills. Maintains clinical
and professional competency levels required of age-specific populations.
5. Must be an effective team-oriented leader, assisting and mentoring others to facilitate patient
and/or customer satisfaction.
6. Able to identify appropriate staffing, supply, maintenance, and equipment needs and adjust as
necessary within budgetary guidelines.
7. Able to serve as a positive role model, be flexible/open to change, function effectively under
pressure.
8. Collaborates with Nurse Manager to complete staff evaluations/counseling/disciplinary
actions
