Description
Under the supervision of the Box Office Manager, the Night Manager will oversee the evening operations of Clayes Performing Arts Center’s (CPAC) Box Office including sales, computerized functions, and cashier supervision. Responsible for becoming proficient with the CPAC Box Office’s ticketing system (currently Spectrix) in ticketing and troubleshooting.
In addition to Box Office night management, the position is responsible for the efficient operation of all Front of House activities (approx. 200 paid events per year) associated with the Clayes Performing Arts Center in five different venues: Meng Concert Hall, Young Theatre, Hallberg Theatre, Little Theatre and Recital Hall, including training, and supervising of part-time graduate assistants and students; providing audience safety and emergency services; evaluating and implementing Front of House policies and procedures; house managing when necessary; coordinating with caterers, vendors and artists’ merchandisers.
Essential DutiesSupervision and Customer Service - Box Office (30%)
- Supervise end of shift protocols for Box Office staff.
- Provide customer service leadership to box office personnel and patrons.
Front-of-House Activities (55%)
- Serve as Front of House Supervisor for various events held within the Clayes Performing Arts Center.
- Act in close coordination with Ticket Office staff to employ customer service techniques to effectively interact with patrons, mutually resolving critical issues such as ticketing problems, late seating, crowd control, facility maintenance and general public relations.
- Assume leadership role in emergency situations, lead evacuation or other safety related procedures; call for police and/or paramedics; and prevent or remove anything or anyone disrupting a performance.
- Ensure that the ambiance, appearance, and general condition of lobby, auditoriums, restrooms and other patron accessible areas of the facilities are appropriate.
- Oversee execution of receptions, special events, intermissions, artist meet-and-greets, merchandise sales, informational/promotional displays, and other pre/post-event activities.
- Facilitate communication and services with caterers and vendors as they pertain to Front of House activities to ensure quality customer service to patrons.
- Coordinate activities with the Facility Coordinator, Stage Manager, Technical Director and other appropriate faculty & staff.
- Coordinate with Marketing and other units as necessary to ensure that marketing materials, program books, inserts and/or surveys are available to all venues for distribution at events.
- Train, motivate and supervise all Front of House staff.
- Manage paid and student staff during performances.
Administration (15%)
- Work with Box Office Manager to determine advance needs of performance; merchandise, lobby displays, etc.
- Ensure the completion and submission of Front of House Report to designated recipients, outlining any extraordinary occurrences at the event; running times, an accounting of employees’ time worked, accident reports, facilities maintenance items, and other event related items of note for all performances.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum two (2) years Box Office experience.
- Minimum two (2) years Front of House supervisorial experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent knowledge of customer service, supervisorial and performance management techniques.
- Excellent verbal communication skills; ability to give appropriate consideration to others’ concerns in order to address and resolve a variety of problems. Ability to speak in front of large groups of people.
- Ability to access and manage diverse customer service activities, including unanticipated service needs and/or emergencies.
- Ability to take charge and direct people in a calm and professional manner.
- Ability to work under pressure of deadlines in a demanding environment.
- Strong working knowledge of computer systems and software including word processing, spreadsheet, and ticketing software.
- Initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of ADA regulations for public assembly.
- Certification or willingness to be certified in CPR/AED/First Aid Training.
- Possess strategic problem-solving skills.
EDUCATION:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Music or Theatre, preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Prolonged sitting in front of computer. Walking, talking, hearing, pulling, bending, may carry 25 pounds of objects/material, not exposed to extreme noise level, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel.

Salary Range: 20.00-22.00
