Position Summary:
The OSPA Events Manager will support the OSPA Events Director in the day-to-day operational execution of all events, in-person and virtual, for the general DNC membership, Standing Committees, and Caucuses and Councils. The Events Team is responsible for all the technical logistics required to execute events including, managing vendor relationships, building staffing plans, and conducting event space walkthroughs. This role reports to the OSPA Events Director.
Responsibilities:
- Along with the Director, lead the tactical planning and on-site execution for all meetings where party business is conducted.
- Act as the point of contact for contractors and vendors, ensuring all deliverables are met on time, within budget, and according to DNC quality standards.
- Manage the daily workflows of the events team, track deliverables, and troubleshoot operational hurdles.
- Assist in the creation of staffing plans, training, and staff deployment for events to ensure successful execution and a high-quality participant experience.
- Support the Director in drafting event budgets; and tracking real-time expenses to ensure the department stays on target.
- Serve as the main technical resource for other DNC departments regarding logistics, space needs, and event timelines.
- Work with the Legal, Operations, and Accounting teams to ensure all events related contracts are executed and deadlines are met.
- Maintain all relevant documentation and historical record of DNC member focused events
- Other duties as assigned to support the department and the DNC's mission.
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of experience in event planning or logistical management (Campaign or political experience preferred).
- Proven ability to manage vendors, large volunteer cohorts, and complex event timelines.
- Demonstrated history of problem-solving in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Strong writing skills and a demonstrated ability to produce high quality memorandums.
- Flexibility to travel and work evenings and weekends as the event calendar requires.
- Exceptional organizational skills with an acute eye for detail.
- Ability to distill complex logistical plans into clear instructions for staff and volunteers.
- Experience working within diverse coalitions and managing the needs of multiple internal stakeholders simultaneously.
Salary: This is a full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends and some travel during some parts of the year. The starting salary for the position is $70,000 on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is in the bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local-500.
