Founded in 2013, the firm's growth has been driven by professional, compassionate legal representation for clients after life-altering personal injury events.

Job Overview

As an Investigator at DM Injury Law, you will play an essential role in the client experience and the early stages of personal injury cases.

You will work closely with our Intake Department, attorneys, and other team members to meet with prospective and existing clients, gather critical information, document evidence, and help ensure cases move forward efficiently.

This is a field-based position requiring regular travel throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area and surrounding communities. The ideal candidate is personable, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and able to build trust with individuals who may be experiencing difficult or emotional circumstances.

If you enjoy being out in the community, meeting new people, solving problems, and making a meaningful impact, this may be the opportunity for you!

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-person interviews with prospective and existing clients at their homes, hospitals, or other designated locations.
  • Build rapport and establish trust while demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and compassion.
  • Assist clients with completing necessary documentation and obtaining signatures when requested.
  • Gather detailed information regarding accidents, injuries, and other relevant case circumstances.
  • Communicate effectively with the Intake Department and attorneys to ensure timely updates and follow-through.

Investigation & Evidence Collection

  • Obtain photographs of accident scenes, injuries, property damage, and other relevant evidence.
  • Identify and interview potential witnesses, obtaining statements and supporting documentation when appropriate.
  • Conduct follow-up investigations to gather missing information or clarify case details.
  • Accurately document investigative findings, observations, and client interactions.
  • Identify potential concerns or time-sensitive information and promptly escalate them to the appropriate team members.

Field Operations & Case Management

  • Manage assigned investigations efficiently while balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Coordinate appointments and travel schedules to maximize productivity and responsiveness.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and timely records within the firm's case management systems.
  • Remain flexible to accommodate urgent assignments, changing priorities, and occasional evening or weekend appointments.
  • Safely operate and maintain a company-provided vehicle in accordance with firm policies.
  • Represent DM Injury Law professionally during all client visits and community interactions.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous experience in investigations, law enforcement, legal services, field operations, or a related profession is preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take initiative.
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Comfortable using computers, smartphones, Microsoft Office, email, messaging platforms, and case management software.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive client information with discretion.
  • Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to satisfy the firm's driving eligibility and vehicle insurance requirements.
  • Willingness to travel regularly throughout assigned geographic areas.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and accommodate occasional nontraditional hours.

A company vehicle will be provided for authorized work-related travel.
