Are you seeking a Counseling Internship to gain hands-on experience in behavioral health? NorthStar Behavioral Health is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Counseling Intern to conduct individual counseling, facilitate group sessions, and developing treatment plans.

What We Require for the Counseling Intern Role
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, addiction or a related field with active enrollment in a Social Work, Counselor, or Addiction program from an accredited university.
- Counselor Training License (CT), Social Work Trainee (SWT) License, or CDCA in the state of Ohio.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Provide individual counseling and/or group facilitation to clients with mental health and substance abuse disorders while under supervision.
- Demonstrate the ability to produce accurate, timely, and comprehensive documentation within the client's electronic health record in accordance with agency standards.
- Conduct discharge planning based on the client’s needs.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to clients in emergency situations under the supervision of an agency Treatment Manager.
- Participate in scheduled meetings, including treatment team and staff meetings.
- Develop networks of care for the betterment of the client.
- Meet weekly with the Treatment Manager to solve problems, review learning objectives, productivity, and ensure clients’ needs are met.
- Enhance competencies to conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments in alignment with DSM-5-TR standards.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers; handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear.
- The employee is frequently required to walk, balance, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Keyboard data entry is required.
