Job Description
This position develops and teaches competency-based curriculum to provide classroom theory and laboratory application to prepare students for entry-level position in the Diagnostic Medial Sonography field. This individual will also continually assess and enhance the program according to the educational standards of Southeast Technical College (STC) and its accrediting bodies. - Develop and teach competency-based curriculum to provide classroom theory, laboratory, and real-world experience to prepare students for entry-level positions in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography field.
- Participate in the assessment process of the institution.
- Perform supervisory duties over students assigned by the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction or designee.
- Utilize effective teaching techniques to promote academic achievement.
- Promote academic achievement for all students through appropriate classroom rigor.
- Monitor student classroom effort and homework, providing the most efficient use of academic learning time.
- Provide for the well-being, health, and safety of all students.
- Advise students in the program to provide a point of contact for all academic and student concerns.
- Complete non-teaching department responsibilities including duties for recruitment, retention, and scheduling.
- Participate in and complete reports on program area to meet Higher Learning Commission requirements.
- Mentor adjunct staff for academic and non-academic content.
- Participate in professional growth experiences.
- Utilize the Learning Management System to deliver courses that may include traditional, hybrid, online, evening, or weekend format.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Education: Associate’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of three years relevant work experience required or comparable expertise to a Bachelor’s degree in the field preferred.

- Computer skills: Ability to use email systems, word processing, and spreadsheet software

- Communication: ability to actively listen and to effectively communicate with others through written and oral communication
- Leadership: ability to make decisions, delegate tasks, be innovative, negotiate, problem solve, build teams through coaching and development, resolve conflicts, hold yourself and other accountable, and work under pressure.
- Business acumen: ability to grasp and understand business concepts and issues that include understanding accounting information, preparing, and managing budgets, and making sound, long-term, organizational development decisions
- Diversity oriented: Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, sexual orientation, genetic information, or job type
- Strategic planning: ability to develop and achieve short and long-term goals for the organization
Indoor, climate-controlled work environment. Moderate level of noise due to office equipment and staff and student conversations.
