- Own end-to-end collections risk management across consumer and small business credit portfolios, including early-stage delinquency, late-stage collections, recoveries, and post-charge-off activities.
- Design and optimize treatment strategies based on risk segmentation, balance tiers, payment behavior, and recovery probability to maximize cure rates and minimize losses.
- Develop analytical frameworks to monitor delinquency migration, roll rates, cure trends, re-default patterns, and recovery performance across portfolio segments.
- Manage hardship and modification program analytics, ensuring appropriate utilization and evaluating long-term customer outcomes.
- Define and oversee settlement strategies, balancing discounted resolutions with long-term recovery optimization and operational efficiency.
- Lead third-party collections agency and vendor management, including performance measurement, KPI development, compliance oversight, and cost-to-collect optimization.
- Establish litigation referral frameworks and recovery escalation strategies based on account characteristics, legal viability, and expected recovery outcomes.
- Build forecasting models for charge-offs, recovery curves, and stress testing scenarios to support financial planning and risk management decisions.
- Partner closely with cross-functional teams including legal, compliance, finance, credit, and operations to ensure alignment between collections strategy, regulatory requirements, and customer experience standards.
- Present collections insights, portfolio performance trends, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and risk committees.
- 7–15 years of hands-on experience in collections risk management, preferably within regulated banking, credit card, fintech, or financial services environments.
- Strong expertise across the full delinquency lifecycle, including treatment strategy design, charge-off policy management, recovery analytics, and loss forecasting.
- Practical experience managing third-party collections agencies and understanding vendor performance metrics, liquidation economics, and operational trade-offs.
- Advanced analytical and technical skills, including proficiency in SQL and Python or R for building risk models, recovery forecasts, and performance analyses from raw datasets.
- Deep understanding of collections-related regulatory frameworks, including FDCPA, Reg F, UDAAP considerations, and state-level compliance requirements.
- Experience working with small business credit portfolios and understanding the unique dynamics of SMB collections, including owner guarantees and seasonal cash flow patterns.
- Strong quantitative reasoning and the ability to identify portfolio anomalies, emerging risks, and operational improvement opportunities proactively.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex risk and recovery data into actionable business insights for executive stakeholders.
- Strategic mindset combined with a hands-on, ownership-driven approach to problem-solving and operational execution.
- Competitive annual base salary ranging from $150,000 to $250,000 USD.
- Equity participation opportunities as part of a strong ownership-focused culture.
- Opportunity to shape and scale critical risk management functions within a rapidly growing organization.
- High-impact role with direct exposure to executive leadership and strategic decision-making.
- Collaborative, fast-paced, and innovation-driven work environment.
- Significant career growth and advancement opportunities within a scaling financial technology ecosystem.
- Flexible and modern workplace culture focused on autonomy, accountability, and performance.
