Job DescriptionJob Title: Accounting Intern (Part-Time)Department: Client Services
Hours: 15–20 hours per week; scheduled within core business hours of 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST
Summary:The Part-Time Accounting Intern will support the firm's bookkeeping, payroll, and administrative functions while balancing academic or other commitments. This role offers practical, real-world accounting experience within a fractional accounting firm and is ideal for students pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, or business who want to build foundational skills alongside their coursework.
- Support the maintenance of financial records using accounting software.
- Assist with data entry for accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Help post financial transactions to ledgers and journals under supervision.
- Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Support the preparation of basic financial reports.
- Observe payroll processing activities, including deductions and tax filings.
- Learn and follow GAAP and firm accounting standards.
- Assist with email correspondence and scheduling as needed.
- Help prepare documents, reports, and presentations.
- Maintain organized client files (digital and physical).
- Support the firm's filing and record-keeping systems.
- Assist with assigned projects and tasks.
- Help compile documentation and reports for client account reviews.
- Support meeting preparation with materials and information gathering.
- Attend assigned internal team meetings and training sessions when scheduling allows.
- Complete designated learning activities to build accounting proficiency.
- Availability: Must be available to work 15–20 hours per week within core hours of 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST; schedule may be flexible around classes.
- Education: Currently enrolled in a High School (Junior/Senior with accounting coursework), Associate's, or Bachelor's program in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Microsoft Proficient: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Google Suite Proficient: Familiarity with Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Drive).
- Technology Comfort: Comfortable using computers and quickly adapting to new software.
- Communication: Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Organized and On Time: Able to manage time effectively and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
- Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Self-Motivated: Willing to work independently and ask for help when needed.
- Confidentiality: Able to handle sensitive client information with discretion.
- Background Check: Must pass a background check with no criminal history.
