Overview

Responsible for Inspection of complex machined component parts and completed assemblies, upon receipt, in-process and final, for defects and dimensional conformance to drawings and specifications; Perform accurate mechanical, physical and visual inspection of raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies as per Inspection Plans and Specification Requirements; responsible for programming and operation of complex Computer Measuring devices (CMM); Provides technical leadership to Inspection department team.



Responsibilities

· Responsible for creation, and maintenance of CMM programs and oversight of CMM operations.

· Audit and monitor quality requirements in accordance with the company quality assurance policies and customer specifications

· Train contract / temporary and full-time employees on inspection procedures and quality assurance techniques.

· Actively engaged and supports continuous improvement of QC lab.

· Conduct inspections at First Article, in-process, in-coming and completes the final inspections. Perform first article inspections to support the component qualification process.

· Conduct various tests and quality checks on finished products. Ensure that all products have been tested and fall within standards, measured to specifications and within tolerances, readability of labels, etc.

· Initiates Non-Conformance reports (Material Rejection Notices) as required.

· Input and perform trending of key inspection process metrics; Document and report inspection findings and results and monitors corrective actions to inspection findings.

· Read and interpret specifications and part prints.

· Work with other company personnel to resolve inspection questions. Communicate with project engineers to ensure schematics are in compliance with the final product.

· Document information on the computer in various databases and other internal programs; logs the assembly non-conformities and generates a report (NCR).

· Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures. Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.

· Responsible for executing timely and accurate inspection of production and pre-production components.

o Can accurately identify and classify Characteristics, features and defects.

o Completes inspection points receiving, 1st Article etc.

o Product and material traceability.

o Nonconforming Material identification.

o Product Audits.

· Responsible for understanding and following all relevant policies and procedures.

· Responsible for and trained to conduct as assigned:

o Receiving inspection.

o In process inspection

o Final inspection

o 1st Article inspection

o Sampling techniques

· Responsible for set up, tracking and calibration of equipment.

o Drafting and maintaining procedures.

o Support management and scheduling with outside calibration service(s).

o Responsible for gage correlation, reproducibility and repeatability, gage traceability, and problem solving.

· Programming assigned measurement equipment.

· Work on assigned projects and cross functional teams.

· Responsible for all standard and non-standard functions in Oracle and other computers systems. Runs standard reports, data entry and conducts analysis.

· May have responsibility for statistical analysis of materials.

· Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

· Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three to five years’ experience in mechanical inspection using open set ups; calibration experience and familiarity with ISO 10012 or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates degree preferred.

· Visual Acuity: Can meet and maintain inspection certification through regular vision exams.

· Problem Solving: Across organization, actively solves problems that have moderate level of complexity. Solutions require moderate analysis utilizing trained skills and tools.

· Decision Making: Exercises independence in determining best approach for achieving day-to-day objectives. Establishes meaningful priorities, makes sound decisions and initiates actions with no supervision within scope of work. Escalates issues timely and as appropriate.

· Communication: Communicates frequently with individuals representing outside organizations and/or individuals of significant importance within the company. Consistently shares information in a professional, positive, respectful, and constructive manner. Expresses ideas clearly and effectively. Actively listens to others

· General Knowledge: Regularly and effectively applies advanced knowledge of specific technical or operational practices, company and department policies and procedures. Understands basic leadership approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing and coaching.

· Teamwork: Actively promotes teamwork across organizations. Sets an example, mentors peers, and leads efforts for creating/organizing and leading/facilitating teams.

· Initiative: Highly motivated and initiates actions with no supervision. Can often lead in Supervisors absence or be assigned or lead projects of medium to large impact.

· Safety: Can maintain a safe work environment. Good housekeeping and 5-S habits, actively participates in Safety of self and fellow workers.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Ability to operate inspection equipment Ability to use open set up methods of inspection Ability to interpret mechanical drawings Ability to use gauging techniques Good visual acuity Ability to discern colors Ability to maintain high level of accuracy and do repetitive tasks. Ability to adjust to changing workload requirements while maintaining high level of integrity.
