POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this position is to assist in product development and formula enhancement based on market needs and quality standards; assist the Manager of R&D with customer service and technical support; and assist QC Supervisor with ISO management system tasks.

• Augment current product line at the direction of the Manager of R&D.
• Assist in the development, improvement and performance testing of the current product line.
• Design, execute experiments, analyze and interpret data to guide product development decisions.
• Keep detailed records of lab activities
• Assemble and operate new equipment to develop new products, monitor quality, and develop new techniques.
• Aid QC Supervisor with ISO management system support.
• Make pilot plant batches.
• Calibration verification of lab equipment.
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
• Other duties as assigned.

• BS/BA degree in Chemistry, Life or Physical Sciences, or Engineering.
• 3+ years’ experience in the product development lab. Industrial lubricants preferred.
• Experience in customer service preferred.
• Ability to effectively conduct informational training.
• Familiarity with laboratory and analytical equipment and techniques.
• PC skills necessary to gather and process data, and to assemble and present reports.
• Familiarity with the development and maintenance of quality systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to utilize objects, tools or controls as well as reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. A team lift is required when lifting items more than 55 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
