Cloud Virtual Infrastructure System Administrator

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cloud Virtual Infrastructure System Administrator based in Beavercreek, Ohio, United States.

As a Cloud Virtual Infrastructure System Administrator, you will support and evolve enterprise virtual infrastructure in a classified environment supporting critical Air Force missions.
You will work across AWS, Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Active Directory, and Kubernetes-based environments.
The role combines hands-on administration, infrastructure automation, security hardening, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
You will help maintain resilient systems, strengthen compliance, and contribute to 24/7 continuity of operations.
You will collaborate with specialized IT, security, customer, and technical teams while managing multiple priorities in a demanding environment.

While standard hours are during the business day, occasional after-hours support may be required.

Accountabilities:
  • Provision, configure, administer, and troubleshoot AWS environments, including Amazon WorkSpaces, EC2 instances, and AWS Systems Manager, supporting both Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems.
  • Administer virtualized infrastructure and Kubernetes environments, including management systems and containerized applications.
  • Manage Microsoft Active Directory domains, including user accounts, authentication, permissions, group policies, and domain integration.
  • Automate virtual machine provisioning, operating system configuration, software deployment, patching, and routine administrative activities using tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, and Bash.
  • Maintain system security through hardening, vulnerability remediation, patch management, configuration management, DISA STIG implementation, SCAP practices, and vulnerability scanning.
  • Manage backup and recovery services, file systems, disk capacity, storage configurations, and access controls across environments using technologies such as S3, EFS, NFS, FSx, SMB, and NTFS.
  • Diagnose and resolve virtualized hardware, operating system, network, connectivity, and application issues across complex enterprise environments.
  • Develop and maintain accurate technical documentation, system baselines, configuration records, procedures, and corrective-action documentation.
  • Support user access and account management across domain and standalone environments while maintaining appropriate security controls.
  • Monitor system health and operational performance, respond to incidents, and help ensure continuity of operations for mission-critical services.
  • Collaborate with security teams, customers, senior leadership, and technical specialists to resolve issues and deliver infrastructure improvements.
  • Work effectively in an Agile environment, balancing multiple priorities while identifying opportunities for process, methodology, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Provide technical leadership when needed, including coordinating the work of technical team members and contributing expertise to infrastructure initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Windows and Linux Systems Administrator supporting installation, configuration, maintenance, patching, flaw remediation, and administration of virtualized servers, workstations, and related computing environments.
  • An active Top Secret security clearance with an in-scope background investigation is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required security authorization for the position, including compliance with applicable DoD security requirements.
  • DoD Directive 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification, such as CompTIA Security+, is required.
  • Hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux within AWS environments.
  • Working knowledge of AWS services including EC2, Amazon WorkSpaces, and AWS Systems Manager.
  • Experience with Ansible or comparable automation technologies for infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and administration.
  • Strong knowledge of storage and file systems, including S3, EFS, NFS, FSx, SMB, and NTFS, with the ability to troubleshoot access, permissions, and configuration issues.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTPS, SSH, LDAP, and related networking concepts, with demonstrated troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Bash, and/or Ansible for automation and systems administration.
  • Understanding of system hardening, vulnerability management, configuration management, DISA STIGs, SCAP, and vulnerability scanning.
  • Ability to monitor systems, investigate operational issues, implement corrective actions, and maintain detailed technical documentation.
  • Experience working in Agile environments with an emphasis on collaboration, continuous improvement, troubleshooting, and reliable delivery.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, security organizations, technical stakeholders, and senior management.
  • Strong problem-solving, organization, adaptability, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple networks and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Customer-focused mindset, reliability, initiative, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively as circumstances require.
  • Preferred experience includes Docker, EKS/Kubernetes, Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools, Helm, Git/GitLab, container registries, and containerized applications.
  • Familiarity with SSO, OIDC, SAML, identity providers, MFA, Keycloak, AppGate SDP, and Zero Trust technologies is desirable.
  • Experience supporting enterprise environments of comparable size and complexity is a plus.
