Supported Employment Specialist in Omaha, Nebraska at Vodec

We are currently seeking well-qualified Direct Support Professional (DSP) staff to assume the duties in our supported employment and day hab programs (float between programs). The position will work as part of a team that assists consumers in their efforts to become job ready and find quality employment and assist consumers in our day hab program.

Available Position:

Full-time; 40 hours per weekMonday-Friday primarily day hours 7:30 am to 3:30 pm with some evening and weekend hours as neededWage: From $18.75 per hourHiring Bonus: $1,000 (paid in one installment upon completion of 6-months continued employment)Responsibilities of the position include:

Promote and encourage community integration and socialization opportunities in a positive manner.Support and enrich the lives of individualsSupport personal goalsAssist individuals to gain knowledge and confidence in life skillsTeach skills to expand a person’s independenceReinforce therapies, including speech, behavioral support and physical therapyAdminister medications and maintain accurate medication recordsSupport individuals with hygiene, including personal care tasks and groomingEnsure all needs are addressed in a respectful manner with dignity and personal choiceAssess a person’s job duties and develop training programs based on the job’s objectivesAssist with job-seeking skills such as application, interview, etc.Refer qualified consumers to employer or employment service for placementProvide training and support while the person is on the job and balance a caseload with multiple job sites (retail, grocery stores, etc.)Build relationships with both the person in service and the employers acting as a liaison when necessaryLearn job skills used as training opportunities and teach those skills to clientsLearn and teach appropriate policies and procedures of employers to clients placed with those employersAttend IPP Individual Support Plan (ISP) and/or Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings as requiredKeep detailed notes of objectives and person’s progressWe provide excellent benefits to eligible employees:

At least 1 year of experience working with folks with intellectual and developmental disabilities or related experienceMust be at least 19 years of ageCompletion of High School Diploma or GEDPossess a valid driver's license and current auto insurancePass all background checks: criminal, DMV, dependent adult and child abuse registryOn the job training: in-person and on-lineCompassionate and patient demeanor· Ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities
