Manages the contracting of event logistical planning including site locations, hotel/meeting venue contracting, contracting with other vendors, and staff management plans (including, but not limited to, catering services, A/V services, decorating services, and exhibitor services).

OPEN MINDS mission is to provide organizations serving these consumers with the market and management knowledge needed to improve their organizational efficiency and effectiveness.

The Managing Director, Market Intelligence Services is responsible for the operation of the Circle Market Intelligence service line. This includes operational responsibility and production for the quality and usability of on-line content of the OPEN MINDS market intelligence product lines. This executive is also responsible for ensuring the best possible content experience for the market intelligence service subscribers, as well as optimizing the service and its content as a revenue source for the company.

The ideal candidate for this role has experience managing publication production and production teams, managing web-based content and knowledge of the health and human service field. This executive consistently plans ahead, can manage a diverse team with multiple deadlines, and maintains structure throughout their work. This role combines the innovativeness of a creative team leader with the practical focus of an editor and production manager.

Responsibilities of the Managing Director, Market Intelligence Services, include:

  • Owns the full strategy, growth, P&L (profit and loss) performance, and operational delivery for OPEN MINDS market intelligence service lines, with the following Key Responsibilities:
    • Strategic Growth: Designs the long-term vision, go-to-market strategy, and expansion roadmap for the specific service line.
    • Financial Accountability: Own the P&L, revenue targets, pricing models, and budget allocations for the division.
    • Operational Excellence: Responsible for operational delivery of quality, on-time market intelligence. Establish service delivery standards, key performance indicators (KPIs), and scalable processes to ensure high client satisfaction.
    • Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with sales/marketing, and technology to align execution with enterprise objectives.
    • Talent Development: Mentor of high-performing teams
  • Management of the General Manager, Market Intelligence to include oversight of the GM duties outlined here:
    • Management of the Daily Executive Briefings (written in the voice of the CEO), including but not limited to: writing, review, editing, layout, posting, updates to production tracker, and interviews
    • Create concise, high-impact copy, documents or presentations that allow senior leadership to grasp complex issues and make rapid decisions. Such content may include monthly newsletter, weekly news service, multiple databases, long-form reports, weekly roundtable executive case study webinars, and multiple profiles for states, service provider organizations and specific innovative programs.
    • Manage the production cycle for market intelligence service lines including editorial planning, topic selection, content production, layout, editing, and publication.
    • Research and implement new editorial decisions concerning the content of publications for the company and clients based on topic, project, or campaign.
    • Review and edit publications according to OPEN MINDS specifications for style, tone, and length, while ensuring correct use of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
    • Develops and coaches writing staff to organizational standards; Assist writers with selecting and finalizing artwork, photography, and text for reproduction.
    • Facilitate collaborative teamwork among content creators including editorial, marketing, and product teams to ensure a unified and consistent brand message.
    • Ensures publications are completed on time and within applicable budget constraints.
    • Analyze subscription service metrics (like types of subscribers, renewal rates, readership stats, and more) and report on the effectiveness of the company s content to drive future content creation and propose optimizations for current content
    • Edit the pre-publication content on on-line platforms from various internal and external sources.
    • Contribute to the subscription sales and renewal process, including facilitating virtual tours for current and potential subscribers as needed
  • Management of the General Manager, Executive Education, to include oversight of the GM duties outlined here:
    • Serves as the business manager for education services planning, marketing, and management of events
    • Manages the contracting of event logistical planning including site locations, hotel/meeting venue contracting, contracting with other vendors, and staff management plans (including, but not limited to, catering services, A/V services, decorating services, and exhibitor services).
    • Manages and updates Events project workplan, ensuring all events deliverables are executed on time.
    • Achieves revenue and profitability goals by coordinating the work of the OPEN MINDS education team and consultants and marketing the cutting-edge executive experience
    • Oversees the Events Director of Executive Education for the development and execution of marketing strategies and plans including media and advertising tactics focused on the provider executives attending the event
    • Leads the development the company s education web sites and uses SEO best practices to drive organic traffic to the education event web sites
    • Conducts final review and formatting of institute presentations for OPEN MINDS consultants and outside speakers
    • Peer Reviews all Executive Education deliverables, including presentations, marketing materials, website copy, content, titles and descriptions, etc.
    • Analyzes the education business unit metrics (like types of registrants, attendance rates, session reviews, and more) and report on the effectiveness of the company s education service lines to drive future event concepts and propose optimizations for future events
    • Work with the business development, consulting, web development, and database teams to ensure that the educational content is marketed across all applicable channels
    • Leads the development and delivery of high-quality content and expertise at OPEN MINDS executive education events, both virtual and on-site
    • Leads the coordination with OPEN MINDS institute chairs and the Events Director to create curricula and agendas that will drive attendance by health care executives to OPEN MINDS institutes, summits, and seminars
    • Finalize curricula descriptions session titles and descriptions for the events
    • Leads the recruitment, outreach and coordination of institute speakers with assistance from the Director of Executive Education
    • Manage the education service team
    • Leads the virtual and on-site executive education events attendee experience
  • Ensure the content website user experience meets current and future client requirements and published articles meets the required executive content level.
  • Maintains current knowledge of developments and trends in the industry
  • Performs other related duties as assigned; May serve as a back-up as organizational needs change.

Position reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Direct reports:

  • General Manager, Market Intelligence
  • General Manager, Executive Education
  • Editorial Production Manager

Performance metrics: OPEN MINDS Circle revenue, as well as readership performance indicators. OPEN MINDS Executive Education revenue and business unit expenses.

Requirements:

Skills, experience, and education required of the Managing Director, Market Intelligence Services include:

  1. At least 5 years experience of background working in the health and human services field is required, along with 5 years of managerial experience.
  2. Strong research skills, with the ability to conduct independent research, analyze findings, and produce reports with relevant information for OPEN MINDS subscribers.
  3. The ability to understand and interpret challenging health care policy, technology, and data in a fast-paced environment is required. Experience writing thought leader pieces preferred.
  4. Strong organizational and administrative skills, including the ability to track multiple tasks and multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Experience with publishing health and/or business content at a large-scale web site
  6. Experience editing content, and ability to provide detailed feedback on a wide range of topics while proofing documents for grammatical accuracy and correct layout
  7. An understanding of analytics and experience incorporating learnings into future content production.
  8. Excellent project management; organizational, communication, and analytical thinking skills.
  9. Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and outstanding problem-solving skills.
  10. Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, agile team-oriented environment someone who embraces and leads through change and ambiguity
  11. A curious, collaborative, open-minded individual
  12. Demonstrated proficiency with and working knowledge of computer applications including, but not limited to, word processing, electronic data transfer programs, e-mail, databases, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint. Experience with Sharepoint & Microsoft 365 preferred.
  13. Bachelor s degree; or equivalent experience
  14. Experience working with a C-Level executive is preferred.
  15. Ability to lift 35 pounds.
  16. Visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
  17. Ability to travel unattended on an as needed basis.
  18. Ability to use personal credit card for occasional purchases on behalf of the organization, which will be reimbursed.
