JOB SUMMARY
MAJOR FUNCTIONS
The position facilitates the safe and effective operations of Port Wilmington, through full time day patrol of the port’s facilities. This position will perform a broad range of activities depending on the needs of the port and department.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Patrols Port Wilmington grounds to maintain traffic control, detect criminal violations, and detect safety hazards.Ensure the facility is provided with high-quality security services to protect people and propertyReport safety concerns, security breaches, and unusual circumstances both verbally and in writing.Make frequent inspections of all Port facilities, including parking areas, offices, warehouses, piers, and rail areasWorks closely with the United States Coast Guard and Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies.Records details of patrolEscort visitors, oversize vehicles, and equipment from gates to the destination on the property as necessary.Assist at Port of entry gatesMandatory overtime is required as neededMust participate in overtime as needed to maintain effective and efficient patrol operations.Required to perform shift work which may include days, evenings, and nights including weekends and holidays.Perform other duties as required
