Description:

Company Overview:

Bridgehead IT is a leading provider of innovative technology solutions dedicated to guaranteed outcomes that bring peace of mind and improve its clients’ bottom line. With a commitment to operational excellence and client satisfaction, Bridgehead IT delivers tailored solutions that drive business success.

Position Summary:

The Human Resources Specialist serves as the primary day-to-day owner of Human Resources operations at Bridgehead IT, supporting the full employee lifecycle from hire through separation. The role administers the HRIS, manages onboarding, offboarding, benefits, compensation, and compliance, partners with payroll as a backup, and serves as the company's point of contact for HR vendors, regulators, and employees. The right candidate is an experienced HR generalist who is comfortable working independently in a small, fast-paced professional services environment and who can hold confidential information with discretion. This is an on-site role, with occasional flexibility for remote work based on business needs and manager approval.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage end to end onboarding and offboarding processes both virtually and in person, including offer letters, background checks, I-9 and E-Verify, system access requests, and final day procedures.
  • Administer the HRIS, applicant tracking, and onboarding platform; maintain accurate employee records and data integrity.
  • Support benefits administration, including new hire enrollment, qualifying life events, open enrollment, COBRA, and 401(k) participant communications.
  • Administer compensation and promotion workflows, including documentation, e-signature routing, and handoff to payroll.
  • Coordinate performance management cycles, including review templates, scheduling, and completion tracking.
  • Administer paid time off, leave, and attendance programs.
  • Maintain the employee handbook and HR policies; coordinate annual review, rollout, and signed acknowledgments.
  • Coordinate training and development initiatives, both online and on-site; track and report on required training and certifications.
  • Manage employee relations matters, including documentation, response to agency inquiries, and coordination with outside counsel as needed.
  • Respond to wage verifications, unemployment claims, and other employer of record inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state employment laws and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Manage relationships with HR vendors, including the HRIS, payroll provider, benefits broker, retirement plan recordkeeper, and security awareness training platform.
  • Serve as backup for payroll processing using cloud-based systems, including semi-monthly payroll spreadsheet updates and validation of expenses, deductions, and employee data.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Five or more years of progressive Human Resources experience in a generalist or specialist role, including at least one full annual cycle of payroll support, benefits administration, and compliance reporting.
  • Hands-on experience administering employer sponsored health and ancillary benefits, including open enrollment and qualifying life events.
  • Hands-on experience supporting payroll on at least a semi-monthly cadence, with accountability for new hires, terminations, and adjustments.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, OSHA recordkeeping, and state unemployment procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage HR vendor relationships and to escalate when service or accuracy falls short.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience using the Paylocity HRIS platform
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, particularly Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems, payroll platforms, and benefits enrollment platforms.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and prioritize across competing deadlines.
  • Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information.

Preferred Certifications:

  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) - SHRM
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) - HRCI
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) - PayrollOrg
