Position Type: Full-time, Salaried
Compensation: $140,000 - 150,000
The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing Spencer’s financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, managing budgets, and supporting strategic decision-making. This role supervises accounting, ensures compliance with financial regulations, and serves as financial leadership for the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Manage the company’s accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger
- Own vendor management, cash flow, banking relationships, and disbursements
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans
- Lead year-end processes, including planning and collaboration with external tax preparers
- Ensure compliance with tax laws, financial regulations, and accounting standards
- Maintain and improve internal financial controls and processes
- Analyze financial data and provide recommendations
- Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities
- Monitor cash flow, investments, and financial risk management
- Supervise and mentor Finance and Accounting team
- Support strategic planning and business growth initiatives
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in finance or accounting
- Experience managing financial systems
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Proven experience in finance leadership within a startup environment
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and tax regulations
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills
