Location: Soho

Position Type: Full-time, Salaried

Compensation: $140,000 - 150,000

The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing Spencer’s financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, managing budgets, and supporting strategic decision-making. This role supervises accounting, ensures compliance with financial regulations, and serves as financial leadership for the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Manage the company’s accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger
  • Own vendor management, cash flow, banking relationships, and disbursements
  • Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans
  • Lead year-end processes, including planning and collaboration with external tax preparers
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, financial regulations, and accounting standards
  • Maintain and improve internal financial controls and processes
  • Analyze financial data and provide recommendations
  • Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities
  • Monitor cash flow, investments, and financial risk management
  • Supervise and mentor Finance and Accounting team
  • Support strategic planning and business growth initiatives

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in finance or accounting
  • Experience managing financial systems
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Proven experience in finance leadership within a startup environment
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and tax regulations
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and organizational ability
