Position Overview:
This individual will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Sponsor Finance portfolio of Mitsubishi HC Capital America, Inc. (MHCA). Daily activities will be centered on the monitoring and management of the portfolio including the preparation of credit underwriting memos in support of amendments, modifications, and extensions of existing credit facilities. Key areas of focus will be the management of credit risk, the monitoring of compliance, preparation of internal reporting, and the maintenance and monitoring of client and agent bank relationships. This position will collaborate closely with the underwriting and sales teams to superior customer service and client retention.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Compile weekly and monthly portfolio reports for the Sponsor Finance portfolio.
- Prepare trend cards as needed and aid in the preparation and presentation of the quarterly portfolio reviews for Sponsor Finance on a quarterly basis or more frequently as needed. This includes financial covenant trend analysis, past financial performance analysis and performance to plan (vs. base case/downside case from underwriting) analysis.
- Update of financial projections and enterprise value analysis as needed.
- Proactively identify adverse client trends and take necessary steps toward positive resolution and minimize credit loss exposure.
- Determine appropriate risk rating for each borrower while ensuring timely rating changes as needed.
- Perform the necessary due diligence in the preparation of credit underwritings in support of amendments, modifications, and extensions for existing transactions.
- Make recommendation to the VP Senior Credit Officer, SVP - Chief Credit Officer – Specialty Finance, EVP – Chief Credit Officer, and other senior management regarding transactions for approval under local delegation, or for their recommendation for approval by International Credit Division of MHC/Tokyo. Presentation to local Credit Committee as required.
- Attend bank meetings in person or via teleconference as needed.
- Coordinate with agent banks to confirm covenant and financial reporting is in accordance with loan document requirements.
- Understanding of multiple industry dynamics and how economic conditions impact credit quality and transaction structure.
- Work with underwriters to ensure smooth transition of onboarding new business.
- Assistwith the underwriting of new business as needed.
- Manage Salesforce records and information files.
Management/Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manage Credit Analyst for Sponsor Finance.
Responsibility and Decision-Making Authority:
- Credit assessment, structure, and transaction communication within company prepared guidelines.
- Credit signature authority in accordance with established credit policy guidelines.
- Control portfolio risk and mitigate loan loss to acceptable levels.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience with sponsor finance transactions (acquisition finance, LBOs).
- Knowledge of structuring, underwriting, and documentation practices related to senior secured cash flow loans.
- Understanding of corporate finance principles, including financial statement analysis, projection analysis and financial cash flow modeling (three statement models).
- Familiarity with reporting and financial covenants for senior secured cash flow loans.
- Understanding ofindustry dynamics and how economic conditions impact credit quality and structure.
- Strong computer software skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Salesforce)
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Team player with positive attitude who understands role and how it relates to overall company success factors and keeps commitment to others.

Education and Experience:
- BS in Accounting, Finance or Economics or equivalent experience
- CFA candidate Level II/III or charter holder preferred
- Formal credit training, including financial modeling training
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience commercial or wholesale banking, preferably in a portfolio management role
- 1-2 years of experience with Sponsor Credit/senior cash flow loans

Working Hours:
- Hours may vary and will require some evening work; frequently requires working 40-45 hours/week depending on business needs
Travel:
- Occasional travel related to transactions and attendance at industry seminars.

The position is exempt and the salary will be between $122,500 and $151,000 with an opportunity to earn a discretionary annual bonus.
The salary range is determined and based on internal equity, market data/ranges, applicant's skills, prior relevant experience and education.
