We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to support the design, development, and continuous improvement of our biological safety cabinets and related equipment. This role will collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure reliable, compliant, and high-performing products.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Research, design and implement projects based on:
  • Reliability
  • Manufacturability
  • Cost effectiveness
  • Applicable codes and regulatory standards
  • Prepare product documentation, to include:
  • Electrical/electronic schematics
  • Creating specifications for outsourcing all related parts and components
  • Creating and reviewing drawings and diagrams for manufacturing/assembly
  • Preparing cost evaluations for management
  • For obtaining required Standard Agency (NRTL) approvals
  • Provide electrical/electronic support:
  • Analyze electrical problems
  • Answer electrical questions for other departments and customers
  • Provide expertise in electrical testing procedures
  • Prepare and issue ECR/ECN for product improvement
  • Research, qualify and implement replacements for obsolete or unobtainable production released components
  • Make every effort to focus on doing-it-right to make sure the customer is happy or satisfied with our units.Provide value to our customers by using Lean tools and concepts to identify and eliminate waste in all forms (scrap/rework, transportation, motion, waiting, inventory, over production, over processing, and under-utilization of people). Uses systemic thinking by seeing processes from end to end and works to challenge the status quo to eliminate the root cause of problems. Is involved in individual and/or team activities that involve using Lean tools and concepts to improve the flow of information and material.Other duties as assigned.

  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Must be able to work for extended periods of time on a computer (up to 100% of the time on any given day)Must be able to lift materials and parts weighing between 30-40 lbs. occasionally (10%-20% of the time)Must be able to work on elevated stands, climb stepladders, work overhead and work in a standing position occasionally (25% - 35% of the time)

    REQUIRED SKILLS

    Bachelors' in electrical engineering degree5+ years work experience in electrical engineeringAble to work on projects without supervisionTeam playerGood verbal and written communication skillsGood computer skillsProficiency in MS OfficeCompetent with basic test and measurement equipment

    ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE SKILLS

    Hands-on wiring and assembly skillsBackground in working with third party testing organizationsHigher level programming experienceBoard level and equipment design experienceStrong mechanical aptitude Sheet metal experience
